Bab 41: Chapter 39: Newcomers(1)
Luke slowly opened his eyes and saw a white ceiling, his body feels so heavy. He looked down and saw nothing there, but he could feel Nash on his chest. He slowly lifted his weak hands and patted Nash. He felt Nash twitch.
• Luke? Are you awake now?! Are you okay? Do you feel like you'll cough up blood?!
"I am fine now. How many days has it been?"
• You've been unconscious for three days! Selena already woke up yesterday!
"Is her arm okay?"
• Yes! She is now fully healed! How about you? Are you okay?!
"Yes, I am fine."
Luke patted Nash and sat on the bed. He then observes his surroundings.
The ceiling is low and the walls were pure white. He could see small wooden furniture in the center of the room. He then stands up and went outside. He could see multiple small houses and fairies flying around. It's like the small version of the capital but people were flying instead of walking.
Luke looked around the area and saw a large castle nearby at the distance, it seems to be the royal castle.
Clank!
He turned his head at the sound of metal falling to the ground, he then could see Finesse staring at him with wide eyes while a metal tray with a bowl of water and towel was dropped to the ground.
"B-brother?"
"Yes?"
"Y-you are awake."
"...Yes?"
Finesse then turned around and ran as fast as she could, she seems to be in a hurry.
"I-I'll call for the others!"
Finesse ran away before Luke could even say anything. Then after a while, she came back with his group rushing towards him. He is then greeted by a barrage of questions from his group.
"You bastard! Are you okay?!"
"Brother!"
"Brother Luke does anything hurt in your body?"
"Do you feel like coughing up blood?"
"You should rest more!"
"You didn't have to save me at that time. I could handle myself you know? You dumb idiot."
"You almost gave me a heart attack!"
"Go back inside and rest some more."
Luke sighed and scratched his head. Seriously, he just woke up and now he has to deal with this.
"I am fine."
The whole group frowned and was about to say something again but stopped when a fairy interrupted them. It was the fairy who said he'll heal Luke before he fainted. The fairy looked at Luke for a second before speaking.
"Mother is looking for you."
"Mother?"
"The queen."
Luke was silent for a moment before asking in shock.
"The queen? She has a son?"
The fairy looked embarrassed for some reason. Now that Luke looked at the fairy closely, his handsome features and purple hair are indeed like the queen's, no wonder Luke thought he looked familiar.
Now that he mentioned it, there was indeed a prince in the fairy kingdom, although he did not have any screen time, he was mentioned once in the novel.
The fairies were a race that grew into a kingdom. They are very good at controlling natural elements almost at the level of legendary beasts. They are also so discreet and always lived in hiding that seeing a fairy is said to be a rare occurrence that you can only see once or twice in a lifetime.
But as time goes by, for the fairy kingdom to maintain its economy, the fairy kingdom creates top-class armors and equipment for humans in other kingdoms in exchange for crops or money. Making them stand out more and make the world notice them.
Luke and the group followed the five-inch handsome fairy and arrived at the castle, all the fairies inside looked at Luke and his group and whisper to each other. Luke ignored them and reached in front of the throne where the queen fairy is sitting.
The group then bowed to respect the queen and then looked up to her. Luke then decided to introduce himself.
"Nice to meet you, Fairy Queen Eleanor, my name is Luke Viscellete. I wanted to thank you for your hospitality to me and my group."
The fairy queen smiled while looking at Luke as if she was amused.
"Ho, aren't you a polite young man?"
"...Thank you for the compliment, your majesty."
Eleanor was silent for a moment before speaking.
"I also thank you for helping us fight off the intruders three days ago. Those intruders were quite bothersome and dared to bring withered souls to our land. We were about to face some trouble but thanks to you, the withered souls didn't manage to harm much of our land. What is it that you want as a reward? Say anything you want."
Luke suppressed his smirk. He's been waiting for this.
Luke didn't waste any time and pointed at the necklace Eleanor was wearing.
"Then, can I please have your necklace?"
"...You mean this?"
The queen raised her necklace with an odd expression while Luke just nodded. The queen then asked in a confused voice.
"Why this? I just found this in my mother's drawer and I sense nothing special in it."
'Of course, you wouldn't know. Only at the level of a legendary beast could sense the power inside that.'
Luke smiled and spoke in a bright voice. Which made the group baffled.
"I just thought that it looks so pretty. You see, I like pretty stuff like that necklace your majesty. That enough will make me happy."
'The power inside that will make me happy, very happy.'
The queen looked at Luke with shock. This is the first time she saw this kind of human. She thought that he will ask for gold or something more valuable but he just wanted a mere necklace?
The queen was still confused but cast wind magic on the necklace in her hands and gently flew it towards Luke. Luke then slowly took the necklace and Eleanor saw him smiling brightly at the necklace in his hand.
'How can such a human be so simple and humble? I can't even sense greed on him.'
Eleanor finally looked at Luke with a soft expression. This is the first time she saw a human not blinded by greed. But she was disappointed that a mere necklace will be all it takes to pay their appreciation so she asked again.
"Are you sure this is all you wanted?"
"Yes, your majesty. But oh! Can you please give something for my group?"
Luke smiled and saw the shocked faces of his group and the queen. He then saw the fairy prince looking at him with admiration but he just ignored it. He thought he was just seeing things.
The fairy kingdom is known for making the best of the best armors and equipment. This was also the reason why Noah's group managed to last long in battle with the demons. If his group received some armor and equipment then they will be 2x stronger than before. And that'll be a jackpot. Free armor and equipment!
Luke then saw the queen waving her hands and some fairies started to come in with a set of armors and other equipment and gave it to his group.
The children and Spencer received mage robes with high-grade protection spells in them. They seem to be shocked at the high class of fabric but happy at the same time.
Selena received a golden gauntlet, she seemed to be happy with it and started to wear it then punched the air to practice with it.
Lina receives two shiny daggers while a new sword that is enhanced with magic for Noah, Finesse looked at the new sword that her husband got with admiration and proudness, she also received a protection cloak from the fairies.
They all looked at what they received and smiled. Luke also smiled but flinched when he saw the fairy prince holding a sword with a purple scabbard. Luke looked surprised.
"Is that for me?"
The prince nodded energetically.
"Yes! My mother said to give this to you since you just received a necklace."
"But the necklace is enough for me though."
The prince looked at Luke with admiration and then smiled.
"No, no. We insist! Think of this as an additional gift! Please take it!"
"Okay?"
Luke took the sword from the prince and took out the sword from the purple scabbard. He then saw a shiny silver blade. It is ten times better than his sword. Luke then positioned himself and activated his aura. He then saw his aura calmly dancing on the blade. He is impressed, very impressed.
• It's so pretty! The scabbard is like your eyes! I like it!
Luke deactivated his aura and put it back in the scabbard. He then bowed towards the queen.
"Thank you very much for this sword."
'I just planned to get the stone but I got an additional sword. What a goldmine.'
The queen is very impressed and satisfied at the humble behavior of the human bowing towards her. She then remembered the amount of blood he coughs out on the battlefield. She frowned. She feels like giving him a sword was still not enough.
"If you need anything, you can come to our kingdom. Our doors are always open for you."
Luke abruptly looked up to the queen in surprise. He then panicked.
"N-no, the necklace and the sword are already too much for me. No need to go that far."
"No, I insist"
Luke blankly stared at the queen's firm gaze.
'Shit, I got entangled at the matters meant for the main character again. Noah is supposed to get the queen's trust. Not me.'
Luke sighed.
"I understand, thank you, your majesty."
The queen nodded with satisfaction. He then heard Luke's solemn voice.
"Your majesty, we would love to be here for much longer but... We must go home now."
The queen and the prince looked disappointed.
"Is that so? We are planning to throw a banquet after you wake up but it seems that you are in a rush."
"Yes, your majesty."
Luke made a sad face. The queen could see Luke's face wanting to stay but can't since he seemed to have some important matters to attend to.
'He is such a nice kid.'
The queen thought that he was a nice and polite kid. But if only she knew what he is thinking about, she might think differently.
'Thank god I asked to leave early or else, I have to be stuck here for another day. I am tired.'
Luke sighed and saw some fairy knights flying towards them. He then heard the queen speak.
"These two are my trusted knights, they will guide you out of the island."
Luke looked shocked while looking at the two knights looking back at him. He then avoided their gaze.
"T-thank you, your highness."
The queen nodded and the knights escorted Luke and his group outside. Luke turned around and saw the mother and son duo talking about something. Luke just thought it's just family business and ignored it.
The group then walked out from the kingdom and finally reached the shore. Luke smiled at the two knights that escorted them.
"Thank you, we should separate our ways here."
