I sit there for a few more hours, staring into the grave, into nothingness. My mind is both clouded and clear. After all that crying and desperate pleading, after thinking on my friend's advice, I've made up my mind.
I can't dishonor the faith that people put in me, I can't let them down. They trusted me, loved me, accepted me. No matter how things ended up, no matter how things were, no matter how painful it gets, I have to stay strong in the name of honoring them. I will become the person who honors them and their lives, that's what I've decided.
"Should you choose to start screaming and causing fires again, I am not against putting you to sleep once more," a familiar voice says beside me.
I turn.
There, walking towards me, is Helen.
I manage a weak smile as I see her. It really is good to have a friend beside you.
