Queen Titania realized that after he had exposed himself, the humans would probably target him rather than go looking for Cid Warlock and the others. He purposefully did this to ensure the safety of people who had broken into the military installation covertly. Instead, it was him who found himself in a difficult circumstance.

The Zerg Queen's female zerg subordinates swooped next to him, concerned-looking. They were aware that the Queen had decided to turn into bait in order to give the humans who had broken away from them more time. They were unhappy about this since, in their opinion, the Zerg Queen's life is more important than any of their own. The lesser entities do not require a sacrifice.
