Bab 49: A Minuscule Crack

Liza went silent for several moments. She was looking at the throngs of people walking about across the street, but her gaze was telling that her mind was floating. “It looks like I could no longer hide anything from you now. You seem to have grasped on everything,” she said, after shifting her face to look at me.

“Why don’t you ask him to lend you the money?”

“I won’t. I still have some shame left on me. I don’t want him pitying me. I would approach and beg anyone, and I had even brazenly asked Amah’s help, but I won’t do it on Dordo.” Liza said, sadly shaking her head.

“What was Amah’s answer?” I asked.

“Does it matter?”

“It might,” I said, “if you want my help it might matter to me.”

“I was begging for an advance of 20 thousand to be partially deducted from my earnings every time, but she just laughed at me. That was when she told me to approach a certain Dordo and sell him my kidney.
