The king snickered. "How easily this subject's thoughts wander to carnal pleasure. But it was not what this king meant." He stared back with superiority, as if the crown upon his head was not enough. He had finally struck a nerve. Could he strike more?

But Jung-In was accustomed to having his nerves played like a guqin. "For all the time I've known her, and for all the love I have, her time as a gisaeng will not put a stop to the plans we have together," he said, unequivocally.

The king observed the tall man's posture and his clenched fists. "My humble subject is too stiff to feel the sweet pinch of love. Perhaps he had only felt its pain. So, a question. What if this king does not release her from her duties. Would you still love her knowing others will call on her gisaeng favours?"

Jung-In's flexed his jaw but jept his calm. "No matter what path she is forced to take, I'll make sure to walk alongside her."
