Cassius met her on her way and was surprised to see her.
"Are you leaving? Did they say anything to displease you?"
"No." She tried to pretend it meant nothing but it meant a lot. "If your partner killed your father, what would you do?"
That was all it took for him to understand her situation and he wasn't sure whether to gasp or pity her. "That's hard to think about. Why would Darius ever do that?"
She brushed past him, not wanting to hear anything that painted Reginald as an unfortunate father who faced an awful ending. He had done uncountable malicious things and death was too lenient as a punishment for him. He deserved to be tortured for ages until it was enough to make up for all the pain he had caused innocent people.
Even so, the fact that Darius was doing this on his own terrified her. Why was he making it sound like he was settling scores in preparation for something?
