Next day.
It was now time for Rex's sword training. After Rex's 10 sets of the exercise, Yato brought him to the training ground. He was also wearing his favorite tracksuit.
Rex on other hand was also a little exhausted but his nanites helped him recover his full stamina.
"I am guessing you can make a big sword right?" Yato asked with a wooden sword slamming on the ground.
Rex smiles and nodded.
[Big Sword E: Normal big steel sword with one side edge.]
Blue circuits formed on his hand that slowly transformed into a big sword with a single sharp edge. At this point, Rex can't call his builds machines since they were normal looking weapons. The sword was only 100 cm in length and didn't include the battle saw function. I was heavy but Rex didn't have much problem handling it.
"Good. Let me demonstrate my own sword art. Look carefully." Yato said and move towards a wooden pole.
He took the instance with his wooden sword on his waist and closed his eyes.
"Ha!" Yato open his eyes and swung the word several times in a second and then place his sword in the previous position. After a few seconds, the pole was firmly cut into many pieces.
"I-Impossible…" Rex's jaws dropped on the floor. How can a man with a wooden sword cut a wooden pole so clearly? He swore that he only saw Yato swing his sword 2 times yet the pole was cut into 5 pieces.
"Yeah, when you get this level you hear this every time. Believe me, I am the one who taught your mother to handle a sword too. So how was it, cool right?" Yato said with a smirk.
"Yeah…" Rex unconsciously nodded but then noticed Yato's smug face.
"Is that so? Then start swinging your big sword 500 times. 150 now and rest after breakfast." Yato said rubbing stunt Rex's heat and left. "Ohh and no cheating," Yato said pointing at the camera.
"Damn this old man. No use in crying now… it is also my first time handling a sword."
And so a 5 years old child started swinging a big sword which was nearly as long as him.
---
Yato came to the main room and ordered his robots to place the frying pan on the stove. Robots can do almost all the jobs but he likes to cook by himself. He looked at Bisha who was looking at papers on the table.
Yato gave a quick peck to Bisha then asked, "Paperwork again?"
"Yes… Sebas sent reports from the business. I guess it's time to focus on business now to fill the stomachs." Bisha said busy reading the reports.
'Kinzoku' family was Bisha's linage from her mother's side. Yato didn't have any last name so when they married Yato took the 'Kinzoku' name.
They also have 4 commercial buildings in main Tokyo which they gave in rent. Also shares of many companies making them quite rich. All of these matters were always settled by Sebas while Bisha was a hero and Yato was house husband and a researcher.
"Any insights on Rex? I mean if he wants to become a hero or not." Bisha asked looking at Yato.
"Well I am positive that he will choose that profession but if my gut feeling and calculation is correct, he will make us work for him since we are the only one that he trusts," Yato said cutting ingredients.
"I-I am feeling bad…" Bisha said looking down.
"Relax. We will tell him when the time will come. Besides we are standing with him. I will be going for the head director position in I-Island since we will need some technologies to work with. As for you, I think Rex will ask you to join the Hero Association. It will be easier for a former rank 2nd hero." Yato said with a wink.
"Is that why you asked me to get a diploma in politics? How far you were planning?" Bisha asked raising a bro. As a scientist and clever fox, Bisha knew that Yato's brain works outside of the norm. He is infamous for possessing the evil mind but Bisha knew that he is more human than anyone.
"Hmm, pretty far. Like for 100 more years but if Rex is the savior of mankind then we don't have to wait for very long." Yato said.
Bisha sighed and nodded. She had seen the ugliness of a happy society as a hero. World government painted this world with black and white but she knew what lies beyond this happy mask. Quirks were like weapons and the government just divided two sides of the same coin as hero and villain. She just hoped that his son survives from all this drama.
After making the Breakfast, Yato called Rex who came with his dead tired shoulders. Bisha smiled and feed Rex with her hands. She felt warm whenever she was holding Rex like that.
Res was embarrassed by her mother's sudden devotion but enjoyed being fed by her.
Yato shook his head. Internally he was also worried about Rex but he will do anything for his son even put his own life on the line for Rex.
While eating, Rex felt a little strange that his parents were hiding something but he knew that it meant no harm to him for now. He can't demand answers since he has to gain their trust first if he wants to involve them in his plan.
Both Yato and Rex came to the training ground again after breakfast. Yato took the wooden sword while Rex formed his Big Sword.
"Rex, do you know why I asked you to swing your sword first?"
"To femilirize with my sword?"
"Correct! And here comes the second part. I am going to teach you my original style where a person uses a big sword like it was part of his limb but there is more to this. You have to use minimal strength to swing your sword in a certain direction with minimal force as not to put your full strength on the single swing." Yato said.
"I see. In this way, I can preserve my strength for second or third swing."
"That's my boy. I knew you are talented but let see if you put this in practice"
Yato then had a soft spar with Rex to point out basic flaws in Rex's swings. He also taught Rex, how to take different stances for different swings.
After 30 minutes of the continuous spar, Rex gave up and laid on the ground exhausted. Swinging a sword as big as you for a 5-year-old child was impossible but for Rex, it is just a matter of time before he recovers his stamina again. For swordsmen, stamina is the key. They have to focus everything on their blades which exhaust their bodies. Rex knew that Yato and Bisha were not teaching anything special. They were only building the stamina of Rex.
Rex then felt a chill on his cheek and saw Yato with a juice pack.
"You did great champ. Here is the mango juice for you." Yato said with a smile.
"Huff* thanks but I… am not buying…" Rex said with half-open eyes. With his sense of smell plus his 6th sense, he could tell it was the juice of bitter melon. Yato was taking revenge for last night's incident.
"Tch. You are no fun." Yato said and gave him original mango juice. "By the way, your brother is coming tomorrow."
"Is that so…" Rex said as he sat down and drank juice in one go. "By the way, he is 8 years older than me, right? How come he got admitted in high school?"
"He is talented. A professor there took interest in his talent in biological science plus with my influence, he got in pretty early." Yato said scratching his back. "Rex, I know this training may seem hard for you but this is all we can do to protect you. With strength and talent like you, trouble will follow you and where is trouble, there are villains. So whether you like it or not, it's for your own good." Yato said rubbing Rex's head.
"Thank you, father," Rex said with determination and respect.
"You're welcome, my son," Yato said then stood up and took out a book to read. "Now for your rest of the swings."
Rex sighed and nodded with a smile. He then started swinging his sword another 350 times.
