Bab 12: A Year Later Part 2
POV Fury
Upon arriving at Vale, she'd noticed Strife go off alone, but knew that they could find each other easily enough, so she did not stop him. She could easily guess that Adam's disappearance the previous night was troubling him. She briefly considered going to look for Adam as well, but recalled the assassination attempt on Ghira Belladonna during the trip from Mistral and decided to at least accompany the Belladonna's until they reached the place where they would be staying while visiting Vale.
This took longer then she expected, though, as their trip took about a month longer then expected and a lot of faunus kept coming to greet the Belladonna family. Neo, Mercury, Emerald, and Vernal seemed a bit bored as well, but remained patient just like she was, up until they reached the residence where the Belladonna's were to stay. Only after that were most of them free to leave to explore the town a bit before returning to the White fang's temporary camp on the edge of the city.
"Neo, please stick around and watch over the Belladonna's until Strife returns" Fury requested.
Neo nodded in acceptance of the request.
"Thank you" Fury told her before taking off to look for Adam.

POV Death
After completing the call with the Schnee family in Atlas, and speaking to War briefly, Death received an unexpected notification.

He came to understand that instinctively that these modes would let him 'play' those two games in simulation form. He swiftly thought about changing the activation commands to Create ID 'War' and Create ID 'Death' to avoid questions about the origin of the word Darksiders if anyone heard him activate it.
He couldn't think too much about it, because now that the call was over, little Weiss was pouting "I don't want hero to go."
"Well, I plan to go to Beacon when I am older." Death suggested to Weiss "And I do have a scroll, so you can call me if you want as well, Weiss, and if you want to see me, I live on the island of Patch with Taiyang Xiao Long, Summer Rose, and my adopted sisters Yang and Ruby. So this isn't goodbye, okay? It's until we meet again." he had already messed around with the plot of the story immensely, so there was no guarantee that Weiss would end up at Beacon now, so he took the opportunity to suggest it now if he hoped to at least maintain Team RWBY's existence.
Additionally, now that he thought about it, with Strife meeting Blake and himself killing Adam, there was a strong possibility of Blake not ending up at Beacon either, so it might be best if he arranged a meeting with her while she was in town as well.
While he was thinking that, Weiss suddenly sprung upon Death and hugged him with her arms around his neck while shedding tears.
"I promise we can come visit him again" Nicholas offered to little Weiss. Though it was hard to imagine, Nicholas realized Weiss was experiencing her first crush, despite only being four years old. Normally that might seem unusually young for such a bond to form, but Death had saved her life, so the circumstances were extraordinary, and it made sense that extraordinary emotions may come of it.

After finally managing to separate from Weiss and Nicholas Schnee, Death was able to call Cinder's father and report to him, which was his original purpose for coming here. he had given Nicholas Schnee his scrolls contact information, so they could contact him if they wanted too.
Following that, he started asking around a bit among faunus to determine where Ghira Belladonna was staying, and he made his way over to the residence. When he first came here, he only had volume one of RWBY to go off of for Blake's information. Though he now also had volume two, it had not given him any more information about her.
There was no way that he could have learned about Blake's parents if not for Cinder talking about them. It seemed as though the One-Above-All had orchestrated things nicely, and that all he could do was try to go with it, and give this world a happy ending.
There were a number of people he thought he might see, but one of them was not the five year old girl that was sitting on the porch. He thought he had a pretty good idea who the girl was, but decided not to assume anything. He walked onto the porch and looked at the girl "Hello. I am here looking for the Belladonna family. My name is Death."
"I'm Velvet." the rabbit faunus girl answered, verifying Death's suspicion regarding her identity.
"Hello Velvet, can I come in to see them?" he asked.
"I'll bring you to them" little Velvet offered and started heading inside, with Death following her.
Velvet, unsurprisingly, seemed to be very kind-hearted and eager to help others, so very admirable, even this young. He couldn't think too much into it since he was soon brought into a room with two adult rabbit faunus with rabbit ears like Velvets, two more adults that matched Cinder's descriptions of Ghira and Kali Belladonna, and two young girls, one of whom was Blake while the second was unmistakably Neopolitan.
The adults, who had been talking, stopped to look towards the kids that entered. "Hello, young man."
"Hello Mr. Belladonna. My brother and sister seem to not be here, huh?" Death shrugged "Oh well, my name is Death, I should properly greet you anyway." he smiled.
"Oh, so you mean Strife and Fury. You missed Fury by about five minutes, while Strife went off to explore the town earlier." Ghira explained to Death.
"I see." Death answered "Well, Cinder told me they were with you, so I came to greet you once I heard you were in Vale.. Cinder has been staying with my adopted family since she arrived in Vale."
Death then looked at Blake and Neo "Hello, my name is Death."
Neo started typing into a borrowed scroll. "Hello Big brother Death." Blake greeted him cheerfully "I'm Blake."
Neo showed him the scroll which had the writing on it 'I'm Neo, and yes I can't speak.'
Death read the message, and then smiled at Neo "Mute, huh? Want me to fix that for you?" he offered.
Neo looked surprised and started typing again on the scroll before showing him the message 'If you can then yes.'
"I can" Death stepped over to Neo "Trust me Neo, I wont hurt you, I just need to touch your neck and insert my aura."
Once Neo nodded, he gently touched her neck with two fingers and used his regeneration semblance to insert aura into her neck and to heal her vocal cords "That should do it." Death pulled back his hand and nodded.
"Really?" Neo asked, testing out his claim, and finding that she actually had been able to speak, though it felt a bit hard to talk.
"Vocal cords are like any other muscle, it can weaken if it's not used for a long time, but it can also be strengthened through use. Eventually you will be able to talk like anyone else." Death reassured her.
Vellet and Blake were both looking at Death reverently after seeing him heal Neo, both being genuinely impressed. Neo, meanwhile, was shedding tears of happiness. Death started gently head-patting Neo "It's alright. I'm happy to help. Your important to my little sister Fury, so that practically makes us family."
"Big brother Strife didn't say you could do that." Blake said to Death enthusiastically.
"It's a new power I gained since I had last seen my siblings, so that makes sense" Death agreed "The situation is complicated. The short version is I took a dive into something called the Well of Souls, and I came out of it greatly weakened, yet with far greater potential."
"Why'd you go into that Well thing?" Velvet asked with curiosity.
"My siblings and I travelled to Remnant from another world. In the world we came from, humanity was driven to extinction, and my youngest brother War was falsely blamed for causing it. While trying to prove my brothers innocence, I discovered a method to use the Well of souls to resurrect humanity, but to do so I had to jump into it" Death pulled out a pamphlet and offered it to Ghira "This goes into greater detail. Perhaps Strife or Fury can add somethings that I don't know."
"What about Faunus?" Velvet asked death, concerned.
"Oh, the faunus did not exist in that world to begin with. The species known as faunus exists only on Remnant. There are species similar to the faunus in some worlds, but they are quite different in many ways, most particularly when it comes to their origins. These creatures are most often called Demihumans, but even they did not exist in our original world." Death insisted to Velvet
"Okay." Velvet nodded in understanding.
"I'm glad that you can understand, Velvet" Death said while given Velvet head pats and gently rubbing one of her rabbit ears to comfort her.

POV Strife
After finding out where he could catch up with Nicholas Schnee and his granddaughter, Strife arrived at an ice cream parlor, and approached the booth where they were eating, only to be intercepted by a pair of Vale Police Officers.
"State your business." the officer demanded. They definitely did not want another assassination attempt against the Schnee's on their watch.
"He's just a child." Nicholas called out and glanced towards him "Do you need something young man?"
"My name is Strife...I heard that Death helped you..." Strife explained to Nicholas Schnee.
"You can be at ease, officers. This boy is no threat." Nicholas Schnee reassured them, and they opened a path for Strife to approach the Schnee's.
"I'm starting to think that I should have brought War along on this trip to Vale, but he wanted to stay in Atlas and be there for Willow, Winter, and Whitley." Nicholas Schnee answered "You should be War's other elder brother?"
He'd come here looking for information on Death, so Strife was a bit surprised to hear that War was with the Schnee's as well.
"Death did indeed rescue my granddaughter. he is a good kid" Nicholas verified to Strife.
"I'm goin'ta marry him when I grow up, grampa" Weiss declared again "He's my hero, so I'm his princess."
Strife chuckled in amusement, Weiss reminding him a bit of how Vernal and Mercury acted towards him and Fury, just younger and with a greater adorable factor. Strife found it amusing that Death was in a similar situation to Fury and himself, even if it was possibly only a phase for this girl, since it was still so new.
"i know, dear" Nicholas chuckled, but kept to himself the fact that Weiss's declaration started to make him feel old. Nicholas Schnee wanted to support his granddaughter, but talk of her getting married seemed too soon to him. Her crush on the boy was rather adorable, even if she was still so young.

POV Death
"So, Adam really did that..." Ghira said with a sigh. Their conversation had eventually shifted to Adam, and Death had told them about the assassination attempt against Weiss Schnee and how he had stopped it. As a result of the explanation, though, Blake and Velvet were looking delighted.
"So you saved the Schnee Princess? Are you going to marry her now?" Velvet asked, thinking of his story like a fairy tale.
"If she doesn't want to marry you, you can always marry me." Blake said, and then was surprised by her own words and bit her bottom lip while starting to blush.
Velvet pouted "You said it before me." the little rabbit faunus wrapped her arms around one of Death's arms, after which Blake did the same to Death's other arm, and the two fanus girls started glaring at each other.
"Uhhh...what just happened?" Death asked Ghira and Kali with confusion.
Ghira was not happy about his little girl behaving in this way suddenly, but Kali held his arm to calm him.
"It seems that rescuing little Weiss had a big impart on these two. Weiss Schnee is close to a princess." Kali seemed extremely amused with the situation "It seems like you and your siblings are akin to walking Fairy Tales with all the adventure that you find and all the people that you help. To such young and impressionable girls, you seem like a knight who saved the princess from a dragon. Plenty of young girls aspire to be with such a hero, but they normally aren't real."
"I see..." Death looked at Blake and Velvet a few times, then sighed "Please don't fight you two." he requested.
" " Okay! " " Blake and Velvet both said to Death cheerfully. They stopped glaring at each other, but still both clung to him.
"Well, when I am older, I plan to attend Beacon " Death told to Blake and Velvet "Maybe I'll see you two there. Aren't huntsmen and huntresses really cool?"
"Yes! I'll join too." Blake promised

The notification made Death smile, even though it wasn't an other world roulette, a free spin was always welcome. He started the roulette.
"I already wanted to become a huntress." Velvet insisted happily.
Ghira wasn't sure what to think about Death getting Blake to decide to become a huntress. It was a dangerous line of work and he'd definitely worry about her if she did that. Of course, the work they already did was dangerous. but it was a necessary job that he felt someone had to do! Of course, when he thought about it like that, Ghira suddenly realized that wasn't the work of huntsmen and huntresses the same?
Neo had watched the way that Blake and Velvet behaved and were quite amused, but hadn't gotten all possessive like the other girls were, though she had plenty of reason why she could have been. While her voice was still weak at the moment, the fact that she could speak at all was thanks to his power. While she thought she should express her gratitude somehow, she didn't think that she needed to pledge to marry him to do so. She hardly knew him, after all.
She made a mental note to discuss with Fury later what she should do to pay him back for what he'd given to her.
------
Aside from talking to Death on the phone, Death was a bit disappointed by the time he had to return to Patch that he had not managed to meet Strife or Fury. It seemed as though they were not destined to meet up just yet, so he wasn't going to force it. The important thing to Death was that they were all fine

POV Strife
After trying to track down Death most of the day, Strife headed back to the Scarlatina house, and met Fury near it. Fury had been off looking for Adam, but returned just now after learning he was killed in a failed assassination attempt on Weiss Schnee.
Mercury, who was still accompanying Fury, nodded to Strife "Good afternoon."
"Good afternoon, Mercury. You look a bit tired." Strife observed.
"We went looking for Adam." Mercury admitted "Did you hear what happened to him?"
Strife nodded in response "Yeah, Death killed him. I spent the day trying to meet with him, but was unable too do so,"
Fury was surprised "We heard he was killed, but not that it was eldest brother who did it."
"Yeah, apparently he's living near Vale on an island called Patch." Strife admitted to his sister "I was hoping to run into him while he was still in town, but it didn't work out. Also, apparently War has been adopted by the Schnee's"
"So then we are all here." Fury nodded, relieved to have that much confirmed at least.
"Fury!" an unknown female voice called out.
Fury looked towards the voice and was surprised to see Neo was the one that had called out to her "Neo, you spoke?" she sked with surprise.
"It was your brother." Neo explained weakly "He tried to wait for you, but had to get to the docks to head home. You missed him by about a half hour."
"While I was looking for him, he came looking for us?" Strife asked with surprise "How did he know?"
"Cinder. Apparently she's living with his family on Patch." Neo told Strife.
Strife started laughing at the situation as a whole. He'd explored so much of the city looking for any clue regarding Death's whereabouts, and the last place in Remnant he would have expected to find him was at the Scarlatina house, because he had not expected that Death already knew about his connection to the White Fang.

POV Death
On the Bullhead ride back to Patch, Death finally looked at the new ability he'd received from his premium roulette spin. He'd ignored it at the time, due to the situation with Blake and Velvet,

Examining the roulette reward ability gave two new Skill Tree's, and one of them wasn't sealed, meaning that he could spend skill points on it! He couldn't see what was in the sealed one, though it told him the unlocking condition was that he needed the ability to use magic.
He could look at the Cosmic Power skill Tree, though, and it appeared to be absolutely massive, though only a few powers on it were unsealed. That which he could select on this skill tree were 'Technopathy', 'Telekinesis', 'Power Negation', 'Energy Absorption', and 'Energy Projection'. It might be only 5 that he could see, but there was a greyed out sixth one that he assumed would only be revealed if it spent a skill point on Each of the other five skills.
He went ahead and used five skill points to buy the first level of all five skills, and found himself disappointed. The Grey one revealed now revealed the method to awaken this skill, and it was not a Skill point. He needed 1,000,000 Shop Points. Whatever it was, he hoped that the reward would be worth it, because it would take him a lot of time to earn that many shop points at the rate he'd been going.
