Zelina looked at her friends, the worry on their faces making them realize how dependent they had been on the fact that Edison was alive and with them. It could only mean that they had more time and a chance to make things right.

Here with Alanor's brother, things were okay and as much as they wanted Edeldard to join in the battle, the time wasn't right. Alanor fought the first of the battles and won. But there would be more battles, and they knew it.

Maybe they would try to delay it, but then it wasn't like here was anything they could do.

"They will kill him. They will kill the only person with the answers we need right now," Nymeriah suddenly said, and Criselda looked at her, the realization damning on them about the two beasts they had left Edison with.

It had been a week since the three women had left home, and while they just got to Acrod today, they had been having adventures on the road.
