Make him understand that to make you his universe once again, have been there with you. Your love will be enough to make him fall in love with himself. He must love himself so that he doesn't hurt himself again in his life.

See, I don't want to be the pessimist here but tomorrow if that day will come, when you will be not there with him, he should not think he cannot live without you even for a single day.

You have to mend his heart, soul, mind and body too. Just like his heart, his body is weak too. The constant beating from his father at a young age till the time he passed out made his heart weak.
