Bab 98: Catching Mice ( II )

"You're awake," Evangeline said as Lumielle looked at the older maid. She hadn't been able to sleep. A restless night seemed to greet her as she stretched out her arms, she had been reading all night. Her eyes searching through page after page, attempting to distract herself by learning about different alchemic practices and potions.

It was an ungodly hour in the morning. Evangeline had come inside to see if the Princess was asleep. Lumielle sat, perfect posture, with a book in hand. Golden oculars glued to the pages.

"Did you sleep well?" Sylvia chirped as Lumielle put down the book against her nightstand.

"Eva, go pack a dress in the carriage, we're going to be leaving," she said, as she slipped out of bed. It would be best to act before anyone else was awake. Evangeline gave a swift nod as Sylvia grabbed a brush quickly running it through her tresses to make her look presentable. In a simple blue dress and jacket, Lumielle escaped the palace.
