Nadia, who tried to slap Apple, should have thought about it a dozen times before she acted on it, because the current Apple was not the same child that she could just order around and treat unfairly.
Apple had grown into a strong woman, capable of taking care of herself. Pyro had trained her very well.
And before the slap landed on Apple's cheek, she caught Nadia's hand and gripped it a little harder until her mother grimaced a little.
"Don't get in my way," Apple said, but then she pulled Nadia's body toward her so she could whisper something in her ear. "I'm pregnant right now, but don't expect to be in my life or in my child's."
Of course that made Nadia widen her eyes in disbelief, then Apple released her grip on Nadia and pushed her away from her.
