Alaina was about to turn when she once again spun around to stare at the way they were coming from. It was just as dark and just as deserted.
It was empty of any and all concept of life. But- didn't Aria say there was a man on the middle of the road?
They were in this huge painful and honestly very fatal mess because of a man who found nothing better to do but stand there on the road and not even move away when he saw them coming. If he was there, he didn't even come to help them, seeing they almost killed themselves to save his ass. Anger flared up in the pit of her stomach and rose to the center of her chest.
But was there any man at all? Could it only have been Aria's insensible drunken ravings that almost led them to their deaths?
It was hard to believe someone could be that selfish to not come help if they were here and saw what happened, there couldn't have been a man; Alaina refused to believe any human could be indifferent to that extent.
