Alaina pushes her hand forward for a shake, smiling, "Hi, I'm Alaina! Jake's only niece. I take it, you're Nora?" Alaina felt like Jake was being a little too formal with the whole 'I would like to' introduction thing. May be it was because he was feeling kinda nervous perhaps? It could be nervousness because he actually likes this girl and wants something serious? Alaina thought to herself. Making a decision to herself that if she means something special to Jake, she would try to like the girl as well, for him she'll go easy on her.

The girl, now introduced as Nora, smiles showing her pearly white teeth and takes Alaina's hand shaking firmly, by doing so she made Alaina feel like she was also as much into this as her uncle was. 

Hence, Alaina was also already impressed, nodding her head slightly, approving of her first impression.
