The palace was decorated lavishly with food and drink and merriment planned and everyone that was anyone was planning to attend. King Sebastian and Queen Pearl were the most beloved leaders in the world and most people felt incredibly fortunate to be in their presence. Sebastian he made several steps toward working on democracy with his country and the changes he had made were hugely successful. Pearl was far enough along that she had to have a dress made for her, which she wasn't fond of. She liked buying dresses from local shops and wore many donated dresses from designers. She wasn't big on spending lavish amounts of money on those kinds of things. To her, it was the people's money and was better used elsewhere.
"Jesus Christ, Pearl. You look so beautiful, my heart almost stopped." Sebastian said as he walked into their large dressing area. Her dress was bright green and form fitting on the sides and the back was completely open and low. The front of the dress accentuated her perfectly rounded little belly and the front dropped to show just enough cleavage to be scandalous but not vulgar.
Sebastian was in a black, custom tuxedo and he looked strikingly handsome, as always. She loved his dark hair when it was a little longer, wavy and wild and matching his feral ice grey eyes. He was so much bigger than her in stature, that even just him standing near her made her feel safe. He moved closer to her and kissed the back of her neck, tracing his mouth down her spine and dropping to his knees behind her, putting his large hands on her waist, then running them down her legs and up the slit on the back, between her thighs and higher. She moaned with delight and looked down and back at him and smiled.
"You're going to wrinkle your tuxedo." She said, smiling.
"That's not all I'm going to do." He said, kissing her legs and lifting her gown.
And an hour later, they were late for their own ball.
************************
"His majesty, the King of England and her majesty, Queen Pearl of England." They were announced and entered the large ballroom with applause and cheers. Sebastian, ever the regal man, took her hand and lead her to the center of the room as the band began to play their favorite song and their wedding song, "At Last" by Etta James. Pearl smiled at him as he twirled her around and dipped her, plunging her backwards and kissing her, in front of the crowded room. He was always showing her so much affection and admiration in public. The crowd clapped and laughed. Theirs was a younger rule, a modern rule and a happy one.
After their dance, they mingled and met with many dignitaries, actors, models, business people and world leaders in attendance. It was an annual ball for Pearl's favorite charity and one she had started soon after the ordeal with Erik. This one was for children. Mental health awareness and free counseling and medications for children under the age of 18 and adults who qualified based on diagnosis. It was all about mental health and wellness.
"Your majesty, your wife is absolutely radiant." An gorgeous brunette actress said to Sebastian. Pearl watched from a distance, glancing his way. She was used to him being hit on and pawed at by women. He was built like a Roman god and had the looks of a movie star. She knew it was a thing and she was used to it, sort of.
"She is, isn't she?" He replied, looking over at her.
"She's a lucky woman." The actress said, running her hand down Sebastian's arm. He turned and looked at back at the actress.
"I am only who and what I am because she exists. Luck has nothing to do with soulmates." He said, bowing and walking away. As he came closer to Pearl, he put his arm around her waist and kissed her neck, sending shivers throughout her body.
"I love you." He whispered. She smiled at him.
"And I, you." She said.
After more chatting and looking around, Pearl saw the Vice President and his wife chatting with Auggie and Maggie. Auggie was a duke now and Maggie, a duchess, by decree of the King after their marriage. They were both becoming their most trusted advisors and confidants.
"Hello." Pearl said, walking over to them.
"Your majesty." The Vice President said as his wife curtsied.
"Lovely for you to come tonight. How is the family?" Pearl asked, getting right to the point.
"Everyone is well." He said, sharply and quickly. That was all Pearl needed to hear. She knew then that her hunch about his son was correct. Something bigger was going on.
"Are your children here?" She asked, looking around, acting the part.
"No. No, my daughter is in the middle of her exams and my son is in... France." He said, then quickly changed the subject. "I look forward to your visit next month. So does the President." He said, smiling. They were planning a tour of America, just a few cities and maybe some stops to see friends.
"Yes. We are too. Enjoy your evening and thank your again for attending this evening's event." She said and excused herself. Maggie smiled but looked a little curious. Pearl knew she would have to explain later.
"There you are. I thought I had lost you forever." Sebastian said at the end of the night, as the event was winding down. "Didn't anyone tell you that you should never keep a King waiting?" He asked.
She patted her belly and smiled slyly. "You know I never keep you waiting long." She said. He pulled her into his arms and growled, kissing her and taking her hand, leading her down a long corridor and up a flight of stairs to their room.
"Bash, we have people waiting for drinks with us." She said, in semi-protest.
"They will have to wait." He said, closing the door behind him and devouring her before she could say any more.
