"What? I don't. I don't understand." Pearl said.
"I don't understand it, either. But something is going on. Ian has made contact with her but she isn't speaking to him about it. My attorney said that he was told more information was coming out in a subsequent article and it involves me. We have no idea what about." Rhys looked down.
"So what does this mean?" Pearl asked.
"I don't know." Rhys said, taking her into his arms.
The meeting at Epic was in ten minutes and John paced the lobby, waiting for Jason to call them in. Dylan stood away from them, his leg up against the wall and arms crossed. Pearl looked at him. She knew he felt this was his fault for what he said on live tv and she also knew he'd do it again if he had the choice.
"Come on in." Jason said, motioning them in the conference room.
Jax and two others that Pearl didn't recognize sat at the table.
"We originally called this meeting to discuss the single's success and the albums completion and upcoming release date. But..."
Dylan interrupted. "This is all my fault. I shouldn't have said what I did. Pearl would have handled it better. Let me go, fire me, if you have to but don't blame them."
Jason lifted his eyebrow and continued. "The Good Morning America performance was fantastic and the interview, well, it didn't go as planned..."
Pearl was just about to interject when Jax cut her off. "...It went better than planned."
They all looked at Jax. "Have you looked online today?" He asked them.
They all looked at each other. "I think we have all been avoiding it." John said.
Jason pulled up a search on his laptop on the large screen on the wall so they all could see.
They looked at the posts and articles Jason was pulling up. They couldn't believe it.
"As you can see, people are calling Dylan a bad ass for standing up to the media. The clip of the interview has went viral. Over a million views since yesterday and over five hundred thousand shares." Jason clicked on some of the comments.
"This guy is the epitome of a rock n roll bad ass."
"I've never seen someone call out a reporter live before."
"This guy and his band are my new favorites."
"I hope Pearl and Dylan end up together."
"Pearl better crush this guy in court."
No one knew what to say.
"We need to get this album out ASAP. Jax is finalizing everything. John has a 15 city tour set up beginning the last week of June. Let's make this release happen by March 1. No later. You all have a month. Until then, we all have to be on hand for any edits until the album is finished. Publicity continues. John, I need you to set up talk shows, late night, podcasts, whatever you can until March and after." Jason instructed. They cleared up a few more things and Jason turned to Dylan, "You're huge now. Don't fuck this up."
Dylan looked at him and said nothing. He stood up and walked out.
Pearl followed him. "Are you ok?" She asked.
"I'm not anyone's puppet. And I don't want to be held to some standard by rich people making money off of me or the public opinion, which I care nothing about. I am who I am." Dylan said. "I don't care about fame. I never asked for it. And I know you didn't either. That's why I hate what is being said about you. I know you. And I knew this was going to screw you over. You aren't like them. And I'm not going to eat shit politely and let them ruin you." He said and walked to the elevator. Pearl stood there, feeling sad for her friend and for herself.
She got back to hotel and Rhys was nowhere to be found again. No note. She texted him and tried to call him. No answer. There was a knock at the door. She opened it and saw Ian standing there.
"We need to talk." He said.
