Darryl sat for a moment staring down at his one and only baseball card. He looked down at Darryl Strawberry's smiling face and Darryl Strawberry stared back up at him. Then Darryl flipped the card over. He had kept his promise to Vintner. He hadn't opened the card case. He'd wanted to open it. He'd wanted to see what secrets lied tucked away behind his baseball card. Now he wasn't sure if that's what he wanted any more. Now he began to think that he might be better off not knowing. But he had made a promise to Vintner and somewhere deep inside him Darryl knew that breaking a promise so earnestly made was even worse than lying.
