His words were like a drug. 

A drug that she was addicted to. 

An addiction from which there was no respite.

Inhaling that comforting musky and the spicy scent of his, she closed her eyes momentarily. And when she opened, she said, "I never asked you to abide by any rules, Morpheous!" And she paused to peer deep into his eyes. "But then, how come you always define the rules for me?"

And she could see his forehead crinkle in irritation.

"Now is not the time to argue, Caroline. I told you. Rather I warned you. He is dangerous. He just needs to snap his fingers to bring everything crumbling down around him, Caroline. So stay away from him. Do you get it?" 

"I get it, Morpheous!"

"I get it big time. But you should also know that I didn't run to meet him. I minded my own business, and he just happened to be there. And I was not chatting up about the weather with him. I just wanted to know why he was here."
