Selena's POV~~
I was on my bed in my room, laid on my back as I stared at the ceiling, scratching my face from time to time, eagerly waiting for Scarlet to show up. Both my mom and dad had gone to their varied workplace, making me the only person at home. I knew I was the one who proposed not going to school but being alone in this huge house, scared the hell out of me. The only reason I tossed out the intention of going to school was because of the red blemishes on my face. I didn't want to go to school showing up like this. My only problem now was how I was gonna hide my face from my parents for one more day after I safely omit today.
Buzz...buzz...buzz~
The sound of my phone whizzing startled me, compelling me to vault in fear.
I sighed heavily when I recognized the ringtone of my phone. I withdrew my right hand from beneath my head and reached out for the phone and placed it up to my ear and I heard someone cackled maniacally. I quickly sat up with my heart starting to pound, and I felt a pit cropping up within my stomach as I held the phone tightly almost cracking it open.
“How do you like my present?” I heard a deep voice from the other side of the line, It was like the person was talking from a microphone. Instantly, I removed the phone from my ear and pressed the hang-up button. I stared at the phone wide-eyed like it was some kinda dangerous gadget while my hands kept trembling with fear. It was a different number from the aforementioned anonymous message number.
Shortly, the phone buzzed again, propelling me to shriek in alarm, plunging the phone on the bed. I stood by and peered at it as it rang continuously. The caller seemed persistent, he or she kept phoning nonstop. I sauntered closer to the phone and peered at it, and it was Scarlet's name boldly at the caller ID spot. I snatched it and answered it...
“What the hell is wrong with you!, why didn't you answer your damn phone” I narrowed my eyes and raised the left side of my mouth, making my nose wrinkle as I took the phone from my ears. The gloominess I was feeling suddenly faded away and filled with a new kind of notion, whenever Scarlet was angry, she was a whole different person. I put the phone back up to my ear ...
“Are you even listening to me?” She said, fairly loud this time.
“Y....yeah, I'm sorry for not picking up your call,” I said with my old fear suddenly dawning on me again.
“I'm still outside your house and its locked, do you mind??” She said bluntly, and I felt she rolled her eyes when she said it. I had called her earlier when she was in school to get me an ointment after school was out.
“Thank God!!” I sighed, relieved about having company. Still on the phone call, I rushed downstairs to unlock the door.
Scarlet gasped the moment she saw me.
“What happened to you??” She exclaimed, concern written all over her face. I leaned in and hugged her tightly as if my life depended on it as I sobbed quietly over her shoulder.
“Hey, it's okay,” she said, stroking my back with her hands.
She tugged me inside with her and shut the door behind us. She steered me straight to my room and sat me down on my bed with both her hands on my shoulder.
“What happened?” She asked looking into my face with a worried look. I sniffled and patted the bed area next to me, notifying her to sit. She sat next to me and took my hands in hers.
“I'm really scared” I whispered like a baby as I scratched my left arm from the itchiness of the blemishes on my face.
“Hey, I'm here for you okay?”
I bent down, reaching out for the box under my bed. I pulled it out and gave it to Scarlet. She looked at the box, then at me, and stared back at the box again confused.
I got up and strolled to the far end of the room, almost reaching to the door. Scarlet raised her brows together making her nose scrunch up and giving her a wrinkled forehead. She opened the box slowly and her jaw dropped when she saw what the box enclosed.
“Who the hell sent this?” She asked angrily. Scarlet knew about my allergy to daisies so the fact that someone sent them to me made her mad.
I looked blankly at her without answering her question since I had no idea myself. Her face scrunched up in speculation, and her eyes opened wide revealing all the inner part of her eyes. I nodded, confirming her inference.
“OMG, I'm so sorry” she exclaimed and reached out for the paper lid when she noticed she had still not closed the box.
“This person knows everything about us, whoever it is” I mumbled, going closer to the bed.
“Do you think it's Eva and her crew?” I added, looking at my reflection in the dressing mirror upfront.
“I don't think so, you saw what happened to Brit”
“Yeah, but we can't be so sure. I mean, you may never know” I said, my face becoming itchier.
Scarlet looked at me trying to hide the sympathy she felt towards me, knowing I didn't like that. She reached out for her backpack on the floor which she took off her back when we entered the room.
“Here is what you asked me to bring” she gave me an ointment. I had asked her to buy it at a pharmacy on her way to my place. “Thanks, I don't know what I would do without you,” I said getting teary again.
“Just get well if you are grateful to me” she said with a smile.
“Did your mom call in sick for you?” She asked me all of a sudden.
I nodded. “Why?”
“Well, that explains why Mrs Powell didn't ask me anything concerning you,” she said and rolled her eyes dramatically.
The place went silent as we all drifted into our own thoughts.
“You know, since the message regarding my kiss with Lucas, I still haven't heard anything from the imposter,” Scarlet said while plopping on her back and glaring at the ceiling.
“Speaking of which, I had a phone call from the person who mailed it,” I said abruptly sitting up and passed my phone over to Scarlet.” she scrutinized it for a while...
“Why don't we call the number?” She asked with a spirited expression and her eyes fixed on me.
“It's a private number, I don't think we can do that.”
“It's a different number remember?”
I glanced at the phone, then Scarlet, on the phone again and bobbed my head slowly.
Scarlet dialed the number and it surprisingly, it started ringing from the other line. We looked at each other, stunned as we dawdled for a reply.
