Bab 7: Chapter 7

Freya

I slumped on the floor when Titus left along with his Dad. I couldn't believe my life would take such a turn that I will find and lose my mate in a span of a couple of hours. Tears started flowing out of my eyes with an intensity like never before.

I felt like someone ripped my heart out of my body. It was getting difficult for me to breathe. I never had thought parting from someone I had met not more than an hour ago could prove this painful. The urge to burn down everything started to arise in me with a fierceness that I had never experienced before. I felt like my body was getting hotter with each passing second.

The pain of parting with my mate was unbearable, there was nothing I wanted to do right now than to die or destroy the whole world. I felt a pressure on my shoulder, "Freya," I turned and looked over to find my Dad standing behind me.

"I am sorry," his voice held indescribable pain," I am sorry, I couldn't do anything for you," he pressed my shoulder again.

Dad leaned and wiped the tears from my cheek and I turned and hugged him, making him kneel on the floor in front of me, " Why me Dad? Why does it have to be me?" I asked sobbing.

"Shh, sweetie, everything is going to be fine," Dad rubbed my back with his hand.

Nothing was helping me, nothing was comforting me not even my father's touch. The pain was multiplying with each passing second, " He will never come back Dad, his father won't let him come back ever. Did you see the way he was looking at me, full of disgust and hatred? Xander Creswell will never allow Titus to chose me as his luna," the intensity of my sobs had only increased.

"Titus will come back Freya, I know he will. You will have to be strong for him and for yourself. Life is never a bed of roses, it will throw many hardships at you, but you can't give up. You will have to fight for your mate, for your love."

Dad was trying to comfort me, but all his efforts were going into vain because there was no lessening to the pain I was going through, " I cant, daddy," I tried suppressing the cry of pain.

"You can, Freya, you are stronger than you know. You just have to believe in yourself, fate has planned something great for you, what you need is to embrace yourself," He brushed his fingers in my hair.

" I want to burn down the whole world, Daddy," I lifted my head from his chest and looked at him.

I had never seen Dad broken before today, but now he was broken because of me. My pain was breaking down my father, who was one of the toughest men I knew in the world. If only I could do something for him and for me. If only I could forget Titus and move on as nothing happened. Why does the mate bond have to be this strong? Why was I mated to someone who couldn't be with me?

"Freya, you can't let your emotions cloud your judgment. You need to control yourself," Dad looked panicked at my words.

"I can't help it Dad, I don't know what I want," I sobbed again.

Dad wiped my tears and kissed my forehead, " You are burning," he pulled back and touched my forehead with his hand.

" Minerva, she is burning," Dad called mom in a panic who was standing an arm's length away from us and was looking heartbroken.

"We need to take her to the pack clinic, I think she has a high fever," Dad said straitening up from kneeling position, lifting me along with him in his arms.

"Everything will be fine sweety, trust us," Mom walked to us and said caressing my cheek.

Dad carried me inside into the ballroom of the pack, all the people assembled in the room were looking at me in pity. They might have seen Titus and his father leave without me and would have started all kinds of gossips. If only Titus would not have come to my birthday party today, I would not have to go through another humiliation. Now everyone will give me pitiful looks because my mate had not accepted me. The scenario was different but people like to say what they like and all my pack members wanted was to make me feel miserable.

I ignored the sympathizing and pitiful stares I received from the people we passed in the room and kept my head buried in Dad's chest. I wish that I could disappear from the face of the Earth. I had sent Titus away and now I was the one feeling hurt. Dad carried me to the clinic in his arms, with Mom tagging along. Dad's Beta Greg followed us as well along with his wife Jenny.

"Is everything okay, Alpha?" The Doctor on duty asked as soon as we entered the clinic.

"It looks like she's suffering from high fever, her body is burning," Dad said to the Doctor.

The doctor pointed towards a bed in the clinic and Dad gently laid me on it. The doctor walked to me and started taking my temperature. He put a thermometer in my mouth, after a few seconds it started making a beep sound.

The doctor pulled out the thermometer and looked at the small LCD screen, " Its showing error," he restarted it again and thrusted it in my mouth.

The same thing happened again and then the third time," I will fetch a mercuric thermometer," the Doctor left the ward to get a mercuric thermometer.

He came after a few minutes with the thermometer in his hand and inserted it in my mouth. The doctor pulled out the thermometer and looked at it with wide yes and then at me, " It maxed out. I don't understand how it is even possible? A person would die before the temperature reaches the maximum point," the Doctor said in astonishment.

"The thermometer can have some defect," Greg said.

My eyes were fixed on Dad and Mom who were looking at each other with concern dripping from their faces. Were they hiding something from me?

"This is a mercuric thermometer and the chances of error in this is too low. I have never witnessed a case like this before," the Doctor still looked stunned.

"Why don't you give her some medicines to bring down her temperature?" Dad growled.

"You are not understanding Alpha, Freya is not supposed to have such a high fever and look just a little flustered," Doctor interrupted Dad.

"You want my girl to die?" Dad roared.

"Sorry, Alpha, that's not what I meant. I just wanted to say that this is a miracle. Science doesn't have any explanation for this," the Doctor looked embarrassed.

I was looking at the doctor and my parents with thoughtful eyes. My parents were hiding something from me and I was certain about it. I just needed to find out what that could be, that they didn't want me to find out.

"I will give her paracetamol through IV to bring down her temperature," Doctor said and went towards the shelf on which the medicines and other medical equipment were placed. He brought the paracetamol in the form of an IV liquid and injected it into my body through an angiocath. I closed my eyes and tried not to think about anything else, especially Titus. My mind was exhausted and all I wanted was to sleep. My eyelids started getting heavy and I fell into a slumber after some time.

There was fire all around me, I wanted to call someone for help but all I could see was the fire till my gaze reached. I was surprised why the fire was not burning me, I wasn't even feeling the heat of the fire. What could be the reason that I was not burning? What does this fire represent?

I tried calling my parents but it was impossible to hear or see someone through the raging fire. All I could hear was the crackling of the flames. I started running from the fire but it felt like in whatever direction I ran the fire kept on increasing.

I stopped running when I was exhausted and slumped to the ground. I heard someone wailing, first I thought it was my imagination. The painful cries kept growing louder, I started searching frantically for the source of the cries.

After roaming in the fire for some time searching for the person crying in agony for help, I finally found him. The man was lying on the ground in a kneeling position. I couldn't see his face, but could only hear his cries.

The flames were burning his flesh and it was healing again and the burning started again the next moment he healed. My heart clenched thinking about the agony he must be going through. I touched his shoulder and the man lifted his head from the ground.

My breath caught in my chest after taking a look on the burnt face, which had started to heal slowly. I felt someone stabbed my heart when his face was healed completely and he looked me in my eyes with his blue ones.
