  He was keeping an eye on his grand apprentice Layton, he had been watching him every step of the way, he was even aware when someone had sneaked into Layton's dream and shortly opened a short path to the past, although the perpetrator hid his/herself well but Makarov could tell it was someone he was familiar with and since there was no ill intent or malice Makarov kept silent, did not further dwell on the matter and just let nature take its course, this was his confidence as a paragon stage practitioner.
