Thalia's mother gasps relentlessly as she put the bread on my plate. She's smiling over her shoulder when she moves slightly to lend it to him.

"Eat, Thalia! I've prepared all of these for you!"

"What are you doing?" I ask her, staring at the lean bread on the plate. "Are you thinking about your health? Your body?"

For a moment, Thalia's father stops from slicing the meat. He's silently gnawing it when he hears me, asking her.

"I reminded her not to force herself, but she insisted. She wanted to cook for you, Thalia." said father who put the spoon and knife aside. "Anyway, Lord Voltaire invited us to have our lunch with him later. And he wants to see you again, Thalia."
