Bab 309: Woe is Me [Edited Chapter]

"Hey," I turned towards Lukas, who was sitting by the window, "--am I really barred for life?" 

The duke, who is also my bodyguard for some reason, stopped trying to trick Kuro and glanced at me.

"What do you think?"

I have grown used to his idle demeanor for aside from disappearing time to time, he do nothing but laze around, treating the couch inside my room like it's his personal bed. He would either play with Kuro or just doze off like a cat.

Seriously, he seems more like a cat these days. 

My face immediately fell from his answer.

"So it's true?"

He did not deny it, so it must be true. I would really be stuck hiding for life, just like what happened to my mother's clan. I'm now reliving their own struggles.

'These damn conquisitors!'

I really thought there was still a chance, even a tiny bit of a sliver, but I guess not. There's no hope at all.
