As we sat in the car, a heavy silence hung in the air. I turned to him, feeling the need to express my gratitude. "Thank you," I whispered, my voice barely audible.
He smiled gently, his eyes filled with kindness as he replied, "You don't need to thank me. I would have done the same for anyone in your position."
His words warmed my heart, but I couldn't shake off my unease. I gathered the courage to share a condensed version of my story. "The problem between me and my father... it's about marriage. He wants me to marry my cousin, but I refused. That's when everything went wrong."
His expression turned serious, a mix of concern and indignation crossing his face. "Forcing someone into marriage is unacceptable, especially someone you care about. I can't believe your father would do that."
I sighed, relieved to find someone who understood the gravity of the situation. "It's been a recurring issue, but this time, it escalated. And no, he's not responsible for the bruise. I fell while running."
He studied my face for a moment, his gaze filled with sympathy. "I hope you're okay. You shouldn't have to go through any of this."
The car suddenly came to a stop, and he turned to me, his voice full of reassurance. "We've arrived at my mother's house."
I looked out the window, taking in the sight of an impressive two-story house behind a set of grand gates. With a mix of apprehension and hope, I mustered a small smile. "Thank you for bringing me here."
He got out of the car and walked to my side, opening the door like a true gentleman. As the chilly air made me shiver, I followed him towards the gates, feeling a blend of nervousness and optimism.
"Welcome to my mother's house," he said, his voice warm and inviting.
The weight of my situation still hung over me, but as I stepped inside, I couldn't help but feel a glimmer of hope, a possibility of finding solace and a new beginning within these walls.
