Evangeline's P.O.V

"Whom are you talking to, princess?" My father questioned as he stood by the door, making me gasp in surprise and hang up the call with Abram without thinking twice.

"Umm.. i.. it's just Anna" I lied as guilt started to consume me for lying to my father.

" Look, Eva. About earlier, I'm really sorry. I said that for betterment, dear" he stated as he sat close to me on the bed, taking my hand into his warm ones.

"It's okay, Dad" I replied as I looked down, not meeting his eyes.

My father never talked to me in that tone and to say, it was quite shocking that he would just because of Abram.

What actually happened between them that made him so cold and angry towards Abram? I have to know but how?

" Go to sleep now, princess. Your mother would be coming home tomorrow and she can't wait to see you" he added as he glanced sideways where my phone dinged indicating a message, probably from Abram.
