Bab 43: Chapter 43

Courtney's bags were packed. They sat on the bed behind her, taunting her to pick them up and just go. The giant teddy bear and hippopotamus Austin had won smiled at her. The hope chest lay at the foot of the bed with all her cameras and photos.

So why was it she couldn't contract her feet to move?

Breathing deep, she peered next door where Jake's house could be seen from her balcony. He hadn't left the house once in the two weeks since they'd buried Serena. Grams would pop over now and then, but she never stayed longer than five minutes. He didn't even let Austin into the house. Too much of her in him.
