Bab 45: I hate you
Mu Feng was quick and easily dodged her attempt of grabbing his hair. He then ran away and hid behind a table far from her.
The rage blooming in Wu Jinyan's heart was soon accompanied by wetness, pooled up at the bottom of her dark eyes. She felt an indescribable amount of sadness and distress knocking on her heart.
She couldn't accept the truth that the only person whom she considered as her saviour would show reluctance to help her even when she was begging him desperately.
After meeting Mu Feng and leaving the country three years ago, she found a ray of light crossing through her world of darkness. She tasted the sweetness of freedom and independence. She became strong enough to stand on her own feet.
It was him who gave her hope and made her feel confident. She thought he was the angel sent from heavens to make her life better.
She felt grateful to him for his care and support and always hoped he would stay by her side.
Now, Looking at him hiding from her and acting like a meek cat, Wu Jinyan felt like a sharp knife stabbing right through her heart.
The pain her heart was experiencing was far more than what Gu Zichen gave her.
She thought friends were meant to stay, together forever. She treasured her friendship more than anything. She wished he would always support her through her ups and downs.
As these thoughts passed through her mind, she lost her control, buried her face in her knees and cried out more and more tears.
"Hey, what are you crying for?" Mu Feng who expected a harsh scolding from the girl asked in confusion when he heard her muffled cries. He was truly worried when he saw her crying.
It would have been better if he didn't ask her anything but when Wu Jinyan heard the question, her silent cries turned into thunderous wailing. Mu Feng closed both his ears with his palms to save his eardrums from rupturing.
"Don't cry. Please don't cry. I beg you, please don't cry" Mu Feng pleaded. He never saw her acting unreasonably no matter what but now he could only beg her to stop crying.
"I..." Wu Jinyan tried to calm down but choked on her tears. After a few moments of struggling, she spoke in her broken voice "You said you won't help me. I hate you"
Mu Feng seemed to have reached his limits. No matter, she was the only one who stood by his side when he was at his worst. He couldn't bear to see her cry anymore and sighed in defeat. "Alright. Stop crying. I'll see what I can do"
Wu Jinyan stopped crying the second she heard him and sked with disbelief laced in her voice "You'll really help me?"
Hearing him, the confidence in her that almost collapsed, resurfaced. She promised herself that she would fight hard and never back down when she was taken advantage of. It wasn't just a simple matter of few lines she wrote being stolen for her to shrug off but her dignity as an artist was at stake. She was a woman with heart and would never let anyone to trample on her feelings.
'Li Xiaoyi...Wait for your end' Wu Jinyan's eyes glowed and on seeing Mu Feng nod his head to her question, Wu Jinyan grinned widely.
When she was deep in thoughts, she heard Mu Feng's hesitant voice "Wait"
Mu Feng took a deep breath before continuing with the last trace of hope "Why don't YOU release a song and I'll help you in the process?"
He couldn't let her take advantage of him just because she cried. He simply threw the problem back at her.
Wu Jinyan glared at him but after a moment of deep contemplation, she nodded. She seemed to have realized something.
"But you should help me with anything I ask"
If she want to get justice, then she had to fight for it by herself.
After a little more discussion, Mu Feng left the apartment. Wu Jinyan made a simple meal for her lunch before strolling through her neighbourhood to look for inspiration.
When she returned to her apartment, it was already past 5PM. She was worried if Little Bunny returned home safely from his kindergarten as she didn't see him the whole day since morning. She rang the doorbell to his place and waited outside patiently.
She thought it would be the child to open the door, but it was a young woman dressed in casual home clothes.
Though Wu Jinyan never once saw Little Bunny's mother since she moved into the apartment, she guessed his mother must be a mature, elegant beauty with how smart he acted.
Now that she was looking at her, Wu Jinyan doubted if the woman before her was really the child's mother. She looked more like a college student in her early twenties.
Wu Jinyan stared at the woman with a blank expression until she heard a cold voice snapping her back from her thoughts. "Who are you?"
Before Wu Jinyan could react another question came her way pressing her further. "What do you want?"
Wu Jinyan was so flustered, nothing came out when she opened her mouth. She felt really awkward and didn't know how to start the conversation with this cold faced stranger.
In the next second, she shook her head frantically and ran towards her apartment, unlocked the door and dashed inside like a scared cat.
Disturbed for nothing, the woman who stood holding the door knob huffed internally and closed the door.
Wu Jinyan patted her chest and lost count of how many deep breaths she took to calm down.
Calming her heart, she laid down on her sofaand searched on her phone to find a place to hide herself. She was too engrossed, she didn't notice the man who entered the house.
"What are you watching on your mobile so seriously?" A magnetic voice reached her ears.
Wu Jinyan tensed up on hearing the familiar male voice.
'Shit..' she forgot to change the password again. How stupid? She scolded herself for being a dumb woman.
She slowly moved her eyes to watch his handsome face glowing under the lights.
Lost in a trance, she stared at him like he's some mesmerizing art piece.
Gu Zichen stared into her glittering eyes. Finally, his little dreaming wife was back.
"You sure are enjoying" Gu Zichen knew it would be very awkward given their present condition but he still loved to tease her. "Aren't you?" He enquired with a smirk on his lips and a mischievous glint flashed in his eyes.
However, he immediately turned around as if he didn't see her reaction.
Wu Jinyan who only cared about what she was watching immediately creased her brows in displeasure .
Watching him suddenly walk away, her mind seemed to have regained some sense. Recalling what she did just now, her face was flushed red with embarrassment.
She should immediately run away... far away from him. It's really dangerous to be in this man's surroundings.
When she heard the door bell, she cleared her throat as if nothing happened and walked to get the door.
"Gu Zichen, save me" Seeing the person on the side of the door, Wu Jinyan hid behind Gu Zichen and grabbed his shirt tight.
