The only sound in the shed was that of a puppy voraciously chewing his breakfast. Askance she noticed the wolf's nasty gaze on the boy. She wasn't surprised when she heard him growl.

"Don't eat like that. We are monsters not animals, don't act like one." Instantly, the sound stopped and then began more softly. The cub's eyes went up and shot a wary look at the wolf.

Irritated for some reason, Sascha scowled at him. "Give him a break, he just escaped from a nasty place, he'll learn manners later."

Askeladd ignored her, to go sit in the far corner of the shed. As far from her as possible. For no reason, the delicious meatloaf ended up losing all its initial appeal. However, Sascha continued to devour her breakfast, this time more from the urgent sensation of hunger gnawing at her insides than from a desire to eat something that tasted no better than ashes.
