  He looks at me with a satisfying expression, enjoying the horrified look on my face. 

"What?" I finally say, feeling my skin grow cold. "What did you say?" 

Leaning back on his chair, Gillian grins, "You heard me. Your friends decided to keep you company." 

What?

No, no, please, let this be a lie. Please, don't be here, don't be here. 

My thoughts race as I think about what I've done. 

This is my fault. I dragged them into this mess. They were just living their lives, they were happy. 

And now, you brought them in hell. The voice hisses. Bet you're glad now, huh?

No, I'm not! 

Please let this be a lie! Please!

"Oh, I'm not kidding, by the way." Gillian says, casually reading my mind. "In fact, I just met them before I came to you." 

I stare at him, my mind clawing at me, accusing and tormenting me.
