XAVIER'S POV

"It's Nicole. She- uhh, she was bleeding internally. Badly actually. They took her into surgery immediately."

Even thought the words had left my mouth, I couldn't believe any of them.

Just a few hours ago, Nicole was stable. 

Just a few hours ago, Nicole was talking to us. 

Just a few hours ago, Nicole wasn't at death's door. 

It felt like God or whoever was there upstairs was playing with me. Laughing at every step I stumbled. 

I couldn't believe it.

I just got my sister back a few hours ago. And she was being taken away from me. From us, so easily?

I felt a hand at my shoulder. It was small and warm. I looked at it and saw chipped nails. Ophelia.

I was still in my room. I gulped, trying to swallow the saliva in my mouth. These next few hours would either pass as a blip in the course of my life, or they would be the final trauma that broke me.
