Bab 9: Truth of Scarlett
Jonah (P.O.V)
After arriving at school, I felt some sleepiness so, I decided to go to the canteen to have a cup of coffee. I took a seat on a chair and kept the cup on the table a few more people were there in the canteen but they were not from my class. After a few minutes, Scarlett entered the Canteen and I think she took Tea from the counter and sat on an empty table in the corner. I remember she always sit all alone and never talk to anyone. Now I am very curious to know then I stood up from the seat and made my way to her but then the bell rang saying the classes will start now. She stood up to leave. Then I decided to talk to later and I headed on my way to the class. After entering the class I made my mind to announce our special class, yesterday I didn't announce because I didn't have time. So I stood up in front of the class before Ms. Patterson come I have to announce.
"Class, I have to make an announcement," I said but no one has the interest to listen they were doing their own business so I decided to say loudly this time.
"I have to announce something interesting" I shouted and because I said interesting all head finally turned towards my direction.
"Is it any signing competition is going to held because of every year egret school conduct competition?" Rain asked with an excited grin.
"No it's not but egret school also conduct one more important thing" I stated while crossing my hands across my chest.
"What is it?" Joseph asked with a curious look.
"The special class will start from next week, you will have one more class to attend for self-study" by listening to this almost every class groan and I took my seat in the third bench. Ms. Patterson entered the room in a few minutes and started her calling rolls and after taking rolls she started the class. After two classes it was Mr. Morale's class but he didn't attend school today because he is ill so he took leave for two days. I went to the library and saw Scarlett so I decided to talk to her but I can't talk to her here because its library and we have to maintain silence so I decided to ask to come in the school ground.
"Hey, Scarlett" I greeted her but she ignored me.
"I want to talk to you in the school sports ground so, I will wait for you there" I announced and headed to go in the sports ground, after arriving there I took a seat in the middle of the steps and waited for her. After a few minutes, Ariana came into my view. I called her and she came towards me.
"Why are you sitting here all alone," She asked with a hint of confusion in her voice.
"I am waiting for Scarlett because every time she's all alone and never talk to anyone so I am really curious to know so I called her here but I don't know whether she will come or not" I replied honestly.
"I have seen her from grade one. Sometimes even I felt that why she is always alone all the time but I never asked her because she hates me" she replied with a sad tone.
"Why do you think she hates you," I asked.
"Because whenever she sees me she made her face like hatred so we never come to talk to each other" she replied and I just nodded. After a few more minutes I didn't expect but she arrived and Ariana was still sitting beside me I think even she is curious to know about her. But when Scarlett saw Ariana she was going back but I called her loudly. She turned around and came towards us.
"Let's talk," I asked.
"I thought you want to talk personally" she looked at Ariana and when Ariana told me about how she looked at her and she was right she was seeing her with hatred.
"First take a seat," I said and she sat beside me.
"So, why you always be all alone all the time," I asked in a straight forward manner and she frowned.
"Why do you ask? It's none of your business" she replied.
"I am asking because I think we all are friends" I replied with a shrugged.
"When did I call you as a friend," she asked.
"Ariana and I never decided that we will befriend from now onwards but we are friends" I replied and she got shocked by my answer.
"I...I had a friend in grade one but My dad made us separate he told me that I shouldn't have any friend because if I have a friend I won't get good rank and at that time I don't know but I gave up and broke our friendship but I was so sad at that time and I got the habit of living alone so I didn't make any friends" she replied sadly and after a pause she spoke again.
"Nowadays my dad even got strict because now I always come second in the class and now I do not even monitor of the class and he gets angry at me," she said while looking down on her lap.
"First, you should have friends because it's not like that if you have friends you won't concentrate on studies, see me I have friends like who doesn't study at all like Ariana" I joked at Ariana.
"You... what do you mean, say it again I will kill you" she threatened jokingly.
"Second, you are scoring second because you are forcing and struggling into your studies" I reminded her and I think she understood.
"You know what I thought you were trying to insult me in your performance but I was wrong and now I apologized to you, I am sorry," she said. I nodded my head saying I want to ask one more question and she nodded her head saying yes.
"Why do you hate Ariana?" I asked and Ariana looked to her curiously.
"I Don't hate her but I envious of her because in primary school whenever there would be parents meets, even though Ariana got scolding, her father never scolded back and instead he would appreciate her always and his father never scolded her about her studies so I am jealous of her" she explained. Ariana was about to speak but I held her hand to not say anything and she did as I gesture.
"You should get sometimes jealous but aren't you hurting Ariana by saying that and maybe your dad wanted you to become successful that's why he would always say you to study but it's all in your hand and you have to think about this," I said her.
"Ariana, let's go to the class it's time for our next class" I reminded her and she nodded.
"I never thought that someone will be jealous of me," she said on the way.
"Hm...sometimes people get jealous and I have only been jealous sometimes because my parents are always busy in their business and when I see others having parents with them all the time," I said and she nodded her head. We reached the class and Rain rushed towards us and stood in front of us.
"Where were you both?" he asked while panting.
"We were in the sports ground, any problem?" he shook his head saying no. I sat in the usual place when Salina came and she asked the same question as Rain but this time I don't bother to reply and I looked into my books then Mr. Brown entered the room because it is our mathematics class. He started to begin class but someone interrupted from the door and when I saw there she was Scarlett. She came late to the class maybe she was thinking about what I told her. It should be better for her if she apologizes to Ariana because these many years she was envious with her and looking with hatred because of a small reason. I broke my thought after hearing Mr. Brown said to Scarlett.
"Ms. Smith you are late to the class," he told her with a surprised look. I think she never comes late in class.
"Sorry, Mr. Brown" she apologized.
"Yesterday, you left one easiest sum I don't know why maybe you are not concentrating in the class nowadays maybe I will forgive you if you give test competing with Jonah because I have impressed with him and he is doing great," he told and my eyes got wide looking both at Mr. Brown and Scarlett why did he only want to choose me.
"Sure, Mr. Brown I will compete with him" she answered.
"Jonah do you agree?" Mr. Brown asked and I don't want to say no because it's math that I love to do and I think Scarlett wants to compete with me so I decided to agree after thinking I decided to reply to my answer.
"Yes, Mr. Brown," I said. He gave us a question paper and told us that we have only one hour to complete the question paper.
"You both can start now" he announced and I started to work out with those questions that he gave. I completed my paper in forty minutes so I still had time. I looked out my answer sheet once again. I looked through every step and formulas which I have used after looking through my paper it was still ten minutes left and I don't have to do anything so I submitted my sheet. I looked to Scarlett who was struggling with her answers and I was a little upset because I told her not to struggle but she is doing that again. After ten minutes she submitted her answer sheet but I think she was not too unhappy by seeing me submitting before time and that was good for her. Mr. Brown looked at both of our papers.
"You both did well in this test and Scarlett did her very well," he told and a little smile spread of her face.
"But who is the winner?" Lissa asked.
"Of course Scarlett" Corbyn replied.
"The winner is Jonah because Scarlett always leaves one or two questions in her test paper but this time she didn't left with a single question so I appreciate her but Jonah did it before time." Mr. Brown announced and I saw Scarlett who was still not angry I think maybe she understood. After that, Mr. Brown left the class and it is now lunch hour so I headed to the canteen.
Scarlett (POV)
I was in the Library when Jonah headed towards me and said he wants to talk to me. I was very curious to know what he wants to talk about. I was not able to make decisions whether to go or not but then I wanted to know what he wants to talk so I decided to go where he asked me to come. After reaching there I saw Jonah who was sitting with Ariana and they were talking something. I went closed to them till then they were silent and I decided to go from there when Jonah called me. I sat beside him and he asked what he wanted to asked and I became furious but after I answered everything to him I felt better and he told me to think once again and I was doing so after thinking so much I came into the conclusion that in some extents I did wrong in my part because I think Jonah was right that every parent thinks about their children. I walked towards my class and I was late so Mr. Brown told me to have a competition with Jonah and I agreed after having a competition Jonah won and I didn't felt angry or something. After coming to my house I first apologized to my dad. He asked me why do I apologizing and I told him the truth after telling truth he became sad and apologized to me as well and we hugged each other. I think I have to apologize to Ariana as well. In these many years, I always felt jealous of her and looked at her with hatred. Its night at ten so I will apologize to her tomorrow after reaching school.
