"Mari!" (Naotsugu)
He easily catches Mari whereas the branches of the ice tree suddenly whipped through the air before coiling against the [Seventh-High participant]; saving the latter from a permanent injury.

Erik quickly moved towards the [Seventh-High participant] who had a scared expression on her face.
One couldn't blame her though, after all, she came so close to dying!... Or worse!
Losing her magic permanently!
Only to be saved by an enormous tree made of ice; which somehow seemed to be animated.
The branch coiling against her body lowered down slowly before gently placing her in front of Erik.
"Are you alright?" (Erik)
Erik kneeled on the ground and asked the horror-struck woman in front of him; if she was hurt anyhow.
"I-I am al-alright.." (Woman)
Erik nods as Mayumi and Suzune arrived at the accident site.
"Okay, can you stand up?" (Erik)
Y-Yes..." (Woman)
Erik motioned towards Suzune and Mayumi to help the traumatized woman stand up; and escort her to the medics for further check-up.
Mayumi and Suzune immediately stood beside the victim and gently helped her stand on her feet.
"Let us help you..." (Mayumi)
"T-Thanks!" (Woman)
"Try to move slowly and tell us if you have feeling pain anywhere..." (Suzune)
With help from both Suzune and Mayumi; they were able to slowly escort the victim to the doctors while Erik moved towards Mari and Naotsugu.
"Are you okay, Mari?" (Erik)
The tomboyish woman looked a little disoriented but was still able to identify her friend and boyfriend.
Unfortunately, she didn't have much energy to speak so she just gave Erik a thumbs-up; to show that she was relatively unharmed.
"Naotsugu-san, you take Mari to the doctors while I make sure that the other participants are okay." (Erik)
Naotsugu quickly nods before moving towards the medics with Mari within his embrace.
Usually, he wouldn't princess carry, Mari since it was not good for his family image but he couldn't care less about appearance when the latter just had an accident.
Erik then moves towards the other participants while manipulating the ice tree to slowly evaporate into the air.
"Are you all alright? I hope nobody is hurt!" (Erik)
"We are alright!" (Participant 1)
"Yes, we were able to avoid the accident!" (Participant 2)
"What now!?" (Participant 3)
"Will the race be conducted on a later date!?" (Participant 4)
"What should we do!?" (Participant 5)
The participants were freaking out!
They had no idea what was happening and what to do now!?
Like a bunch of annoying children, they continue to make lots of noise while discussing their next course of action.
Before the situation could get any worse, Erik stepped forward and spoke in a soft yet reverberating tone.
"Since an unfortunate accident interrupted the race, the round will either be reconducted on a later date or each one of you will be allotted equal points." (Erik)
"Irrespective of what your position was in the race post-accident, the points will be equally allocated to each one of the participants." (Erik)
Erik had read the various rules and regulations mentioned on the official [Nine-School Competition] website; therefore he was well versed in dealing with such a situation.
"Now please, make your way to the medic and take a compulsory check-up to make sure that you all are in top condition for the upcoming rounds." (Erik)
"Ah..okay!?" (Participant 1)
Faced with the charismatic demeanor of Erik, the participants didn't have any other choice but to follow his words and do as he instructs them.

(Inside VIP pavilion)
"This is bad, grandfather!" (Minoru)
The handsome face of the young Kudou was dominated by worry and outrage.
His grandfather noticed this and asked him the reason behind his enraged expression.
"What is the matter, Minoru?" (Retsu)
"Accidents do happen during the event, this isn't something new." (Retsu)
Elder Retsu was correct!
Accidents did occur in such events; it wasn't something entirely new to the competition, especially since the use of magic has always been extremely deep and fascinating.
Unfortunately, Minoru's worry and outrage had another origin point.
"No grandfather! I am not worried for the participants." (Minoru)
Hearing his grandson's words, Elder Retsu was feeling confused.
So he questioned him.
"That what is the reason behind your anger, Minoru?" (Retsu)
The young Kudou opened his mouth to voice his concerns.
"This incident was no accident grandfather, using my eyes I was able to sense a disturbance around the [Seventh-High participant] board!" (Minoru)
Now this way an intriguing point and it successfully captured Elder Retsu's attention.
"What!? Explain!" (Retsu)
"As soon as she tried to use her magic to deaccelerate since the turn was closing in; her CAD went haywire are accelerated her instead of slowing her down." (Minoru)
"I could sense some kind of outside spirit magic being used to sabotage the CAD of one of the participants." (Minoru)
Now, this wasn't something that Elder Retsu would expect at all! If what his grandson had told him was true then that would be that there was a traitor within their staff.
Someone of relatively high status since they were able to sabotage participant's CAD without raising any suspicion until now.
"This is bad news!" (Retsu)
Fortunately or unfortunately, for Minoru, there were greater things that angered him.
"No grandfather, the real problem is about to surface!" (Minoru)
"Erik-sama must have also sensed this disturbance and will likely get upset with this discovery." (Minoru)
Worry could be seen on Minoru's face as he started to consider the worst-case scenarios.
"The competition is mainly being organized by our family!" (Minoru)
"I already own a lot to Erik-sama, I can't allow such blatant disrespect towards him!" (Minoru)
"I will find the culprits and eradicate them for him!" (Minoru)
A powerful psion wave burst forth Minoru as the room cracked... under the sheer pressure he was emitting!
Now mind you, Minoru was someone with superior capacity when compared to Miyuki's magic capacity and a boosted version of [Elemental Sight], when compared to Tatsuya's.
Coupled with the fact that Erik had spent quite something teaching him different types of magic; and most of his existing magic.
It wouldn't be wrong to say that, Minoru was STRONG!
And that he was extremely PISSED!
Faced with his grandson's anger, Elder Retsu slowly shook his head before speaking in a light tone.
"It's better if we invite him and discuss the matter before confronting the culprits!" (Retsu)
Elder Retsu understood the reason behind his grandson's anger.
Erik had cured Minoru of his condition.
He had given his grandson, a new life!
A better life!
And now since someone was trying to sabotage the events, it would put Erik in mortal danger which in turn would anger Minoru.
"This way, we should be able to please Erik in case he is angry over the incident." (Retsu)
Thus he presented his grandson with a more peaceful and less violent option.
"Alright, grandfather, as you say..." (Minoru)
