Bab 13: CHAPTER THIRTEEN
~BRITNEY'S POV
I woke up feeling exhausted. I had stayed up all night chatting with Phyllis, my roommate, that girl just had the gift of talking. She could talk the whole day without a pause.
I walked sluggishly to the bathroom, had my bath and got ready for class. I was in such a hurry but my body was too tired to move any faster.
I had to borrow a book from the library before going to class plus I didn't want to be even a second late for History class. Mr. Williams, our History teacher, wouldn't hesitate to drive me out of the class if I arrived late.
Lucky, I arrived ten minutes before time and got ready for the class. Ciara walked up to me.
"What happened yesterday?" She enquired.
"What are you talking about?"
"Don't try to play smart with me Britney."
I couldn't tell if she was angry or not. Her tone spelt out anger but her facial expression said a different thing.
"Why was Taylor crying and asking if you were okay? Why did she say she didn't mean to hurt you?"
"Oh Ciara! Did you hit your head against a wall a something. What is all this you're talking about? I know nothing about what you're saying. You've got me really confused now." I lied.
"Britney? You're such a bad liar. Just tell me everything."
"Okay fine but promise you won't tell anyone not even Dion"
"I promise." She said
I told her about my feelings for Peter and how I felt betrayed and hurt when I saw he and Taylor holding hands affectionately.
"But I've forgotten all about it now. I realized yesterday that Peter wasn't mine and won't be mine. Besides, they is no need to cry over spilled milk right?" I added.
"You made the right decision girl." She said and turned to leave.
"One more thing Ciara. I know I said I have forgotten about Peter but I need an answer to this question. Please give me an honest answer."
"What is it?"
"Do you know if Taylor really likes Peter?"
She was about to answer when Mr. Williams entered the class and ordered everyone to sit as he walked to his desk. Ciara quickly took her seat. She sat two rows from mine.
"Great! Couldn't he had waited even a second before arriving? Now how am I going to Ciara to give me an answer?" I said to myself.
I didn't see Taylor until later that night when she came to my room. She apologized for what happened but I told her not to worry and that I wasn't bothered at all.
It was already late so she couldn't stay for long. She gave me a tight hug and rushed to her room before all the lights in the school were turned off.
I felt so relieved as if a huge burden had been lifted off my shoulders. I said my prayers and went to sleep.
