Bab 589: Spectre Dimitri.

Soul flames were a unique type of flame that ignored the physical defences of the target and went straight for their soul (life force). The more a target was burnt (tainted) by the green flames, the more their life force would be depleted, thus weakening both their physical and magical strength in real-time.

The only downside to such dangerous magic was the fact that each use also burnt a small portion of the user's lifespan (a subsection of the soul). However, Dimitri's meteor hammer amplified the potency and quantity of soul flames produced while absorbing a portion of the burnt soul and passing it to the user.

Although the absorption rate was slightly lower than the rate of soul energy consumption, Dimitri didn't always need the soul flames to kill his targets; thus slightly balancing his life force.

(AN: the soul has a max capacity, and can't exceed that even if more souls are absorbed.)
