"Fire!" Thane instructed his men to fire at the hill across them. He too removed his gun from Cleo's head and shoot blindly at the grasses. The sniper should be there! Lying down with his gun. "Don't stop shooting!" He instructed when he noticed that most of his men stopped shooting.

"If you want the diamonds… we will give it to you!" Just like Cleo, Thane, also figured out that the man shooting them was after the diamonds that Cleo stole.
