After defeating the ogre, Sato noticed something weird about it. This was the fact that it had offered no drops or even experience points, to say the least. All that effort and energy spent defeating it turned out to be for naught since there was no reward. Amongst some gamers, monsters who turned out this way were referred to as 'duds', and they became pretty popular in the era of VR gaming.
Unlike your average monsters, duds didn't provide any rewards like item drops or even experience points for defeating them, and most times, they were quite difficult to beat. In the best-case scenario, a dud would be just a rank above a common monster and in the worst-case scenario, they would possess the strength of mini-bosses.
