"Since when?" I grasped at Karyn's hands and she squeezed back, the two of us locked in a moment only we could share. I'd left him in her care not so long ago. The old Enforcer leader had been discovered by some of her witches after suffering in the not-so-tender mercies of the Brotherhood. He'd been abandoned, broken, insane, dumped on the streets of her city. When her people found him they'd taken him home to her and she'd cared for him personally since then. I'd only seen him once, the day he called me Doombringer. Had won a moment of seeming lucidity from him. But, from what she'd told me along the way he'd never recovered. If anything, from the sounds of what she was telling me now, he was only getting worse.
