The gathering broke up then and I was more than happy to see them go. I lingered in my seat until the last of them had departed. All but Life, Death, Chance and, newly joining us, my advisor, Seth. Nero sank into the seat next to me, the Grim Reaper persona flickering across his face as he leaned in with his worry as clear in his aura as it had ever been. "Eve," he said.
I nodded to him, patted his hand. "I know." Shook my head. "How did Kael escape?"
Nero blew air through his lips, a soft sound of angst emerging. "I don't know," he said "and that worries me the most." The Grim Reaper settled over his features, the frightening skull devouring the handsome brother I knew so well. "He should not have been able to escape, Eve," Nero's tone had deepened to the Grim Reaper's voice, "and yet he did so at ease and without me knowing."
