Bab 42: Chapter 42: Attack

The Repository heaved beneath me, the stone corridor raining pebbles and dust overhead as the centaurs shouted their fear, planting their big hooves wide to keep from staggering. I sank to the floor, arms over my head and rode out the attack. Because it was an attack, that much was clear, the soul-if that was accurate-of the realm crying out in its own way, a mix of fear and anger rebelling against whatever was happening.

It didn't last long, the mist within me roaring its own fury in retaliation. I felt the attack retreat from Chaos but couldn't track it, at least positive now it wasn't my fault. The relief of that knowing was nothing compared to the desperate anger of the Repository as it sealed itself tight and the vast shaking suddenly stopped.

Just like Dad's realm. Exactly like Undertown. Only now I had proof-if internally-this had nothing to do with my power going rogue.
