Bab 26: Chapter 26

"I'll leave you to talk." She left with the basin and facecloth.

"I heard you wanted to talk to me," Marilyn said.

"I'm dying, kid," Bo rasped, "about fucking time too."

Marilyn laughed and sat beside him.

"Trust you to be cantankerous to the end."

"It's who I am. No need to change it now. I didn't want have you come and weep all over me. I wanted to warn you."

"About what? You've told me the dangers of the business enough."

"Not just that." Bo coughed and frowned. "That angelic friend of yours. She's trouble."

"Has she done anything to you?"

"What could she do? Besides, I'm no threat to her. You are. I can't tell you what it is, maybe it's just my cynical nature, but she's a player. I know, like calls to like."

"I'll be careful," Marilyn said.

"The other thing is, don't make me any promises."

"What?"

"People do it all the time, I'll win this for Bo. and shit like that. If you're going to win, win for yourself. I'll be dead."
