Bab 193: Blood Candidate. (Part 1)
Aurora excused herself from her cousins and walked away from the group.
Looking down at her hand, she saw that her glass of wine was almost empty.
'Why am I finding myself with empty glasses? How many drinks did I have so far?' Aurora questioned herself in her mind.
A servant with a tray walked by her.
"Stop!" Stopping the servant, she exchanged her empty glass of wine with a full glass.
After exchanging the glasses, she spotted a less crowded area of the party and headed over there.
Just as she arrived at the corner, someone spoke up beside her.
"I see that your social interaction skills have improved, Aurora. Unlike in the past, you are interacting with more people. That is a good improvement!"
Turning to the person beside her, Aurora replied to him.
"Uncle, you know very well that I'm being forced to. After all, I'm the only child of the patriarch present at this party. Also, uncle Virgil, I don't hate interacting at parties. I just hate interacting with people of the Blood family."
The person beside Aurora is her uncle, her father's younger brother, Virgil Blood.
Virgil chuckled hearing his niece.
"Are you working with, father?" Aurora asked Virgil.
Virgil stared at his niece for a few moments before answering.
"I guess you can call it, we have a mutually beneficial partnership. Why the sudden question?"
"Because your son is working with my father and you hate your son. I was only wondering, noticing that you have spent more time with your son this evening."
Virgil's expression turned neutral.
"As they say, keep your friends close and your enemies closer. That son of mine is too ambitious and his greed is apparent. I have to be careful or else I will end up like my father, don't you agree? But, I believe your father is the one playing the dangerous game here, Aurora!"
Aurora stayed silent and didn't reply to Virgil.
"Well, the reason I have approached you is to warn you and your brother, especially your brother Aaron! If he wants to survive, then he must become a Blood candidate or else he will die."
After warning Aurora, Virgil was about to leave but Aurora spoke up, thanking Virgil for the warning.
"Uncle, thank you for the warning."
Virgil looked back and nodded to Aurora before leaving.
When Virgil left the area, Aurora voiced out.
"Stop hiding, Avalon... He left."
A moment later, Avalon appeared from behind the curtain.
"Whoa, sis! Look at daddy, he cares about you two more than his own flesh and blood!" Avalon remarked, standing beside Aurora.
Aurora rolled her eyes, hearing Avalon.
"Why are you hiding here, Avalon. Did you just climb up the wall to get here?"
"No no no! I'm a magician, I teleported here." Avalon replied giving Aurora an innocent smile.
"..." Aurora gave him a weird look.
"Trust me, sis, I'm not lying!"
"I'm in charge of the security here, Avalon."
"..." Avalon shut up.
A few moments later, he gave a brilliant smile to Aurora.
"Why don't we resume our unfinished game? Pawn, f6."
"Bishop e5 to d6." Aurora.
"Bishop f8 takes Bishop d6." Avalon.
"Knight e4 takes Bishop d6." Aurora.
"You know, I have always hated my father. Most of my memories of my mother that I remember is, him abusing my mother. He has many mistresses and bas*ards, my mother accepted them all. She loved him even after everything he did to her with all her heart! Rook e8 to f8." Avalon said as he recalled his childhood.
"Knight d6 to e4." Aurora.
"Queen d8 to b8. I was seven years old, my mother was with child. She told me I would have a little sister, she was sure of it."
"Queen g3 to f3." Aurora looked at Avalon.
Avalon had a hurt expression on his face.
"Rook f8 to e8. A mistress of my father couldn't give birth to any child so she poisoned my mother out of jealousy. My mother lost her child. That was the last straw! My mother committed suicide, a few days later."
"Pawn, g3." Aurora.
"I hate him, sister! I promised my mother, I won't kill him. But that doesn't mean, I can't do anything to him. King g8 to h8." Avalon.
"Knight e4 to c5" Aurora.
"Rook a7 to e7. An enemy of my enemy is my friend." Avalon.
"Bishop b3 to c4. Then what am I? A friend or a foe?" Aurora asked Avalon.
"Pawn, e5. I dont know that yet, sister. But I do consider you as a friend...For now!" Avalon replied to Aurora.
The two of them gazed into each other.
"Pawn d4 takes Pawn e5." Aurora.
"Queen b8 takes Pawn e5." Avalon.
"Rook d1 to d2" Aurora.
"Queen e5 to g5." Avalon
"Knight c5 to b3." Aurora.
"Knight d5 to b6" Avalon.
"Pawn, h4." Aurora.
"Queen g5 to e5" Avalon.
"Rook d2 to e2." Aurora.
Changing his expression to his usual innocent bubbly look, Avalon said to Aurora.
"Can you hook me up with that Prince girl, Nyx Prince? Please, I will do anything!"
"Queen e5 to c7." Avalon.
Aurora's expression turned into an angry one.
She focussed a bit of her killing intent on Avalon.
"ROOK E2 TAKES ROOK E7!" Aurora said in an aggressive tone.
"Okay, okay! I'm sorry, no need to get angry. I was just asking, okay! Queen c7 takes Rook e7." Avalon replied hurriedly seeing Aurora's angry face.
"Knight b3 takes Pawn a5." Aurora.
"Queen e7 to e5." Avalon.
"The Rothschilde girl, she didn't come. Is there something going on between the Rothschilde family and the girl who's rumoured to be Aaron's fiancee? Knight a5 to b3." Aurora inquired.
"I don't know. The Rothschilde family is huge, there's always something going on. I dont even know which mute girl it is, there are thirteen of them at the Rothschilde family. You know the Rothschildes, they are fu*king huge! Knight b6 takes Pawn a4." Avalon answered after thinking for a while.
"Bishop c4 to f7" Aurora.
"Rook e8 to f8." Avalon.
"Rook c1 to c4." Aurora.
"Rook f8 takes Bishop f7. Avalon.
Aurora frowned.
"Rook c4 takes knight b4." Aurora.
Avalon smiled.
"Queen e5 to e1, check!" Avalon.
"King, h2." Aurora.
"Queen takes Rook b4." Avalon.
"Queen f3 takes Pawn c6." Aurora.
"Rook, f8." Avalon.
Aurora was silent for a minute before she sighed.
"You won, I resign." Aurora resigned from the game.
Hearing Aurora, Avalon smiled brilliantly!
"Yes. For the first time in my life, I defeated you in chess! Hahaha~" Avalon laughed like a kid after winning against Aurora.
Aurora rolled her eyes.
"Yay, you won! Now if you excuse me, I dont have time to entertain you. So have a good evening, Avalon." Aurora turned away from Avalon and started walking away.
She saw someone at the party whom she didn't know that he was attending.
It was a surprise to Aurora!
Avalon frowned feeling weird.
He analysed the game starting from the beginning.
After a few moments, realization dawned upon him!
He looked at Aurora with a dumbfounded expression on his face.
"Wait! Did you let me win?" Avalon called out to Aurora.
Aurora turning back smirked at Avalon.
"What do you think?" She mouthed out.
"No! That's not fair!!! Does that mean I will never win against you unless you want me to? That's fuc*ing mean!" Avalon stomped his foot feeling displeased and dispirited by the result of the game and how Aurora made a fool out of him.
Every move of his was calculated by Aurora. She had him in the palm of her hands.
Aurora turned back and walk away.
Looking at Aurora's figure disappearing to the next room, Avalon muttered softly.
"I may not ever win against you on board games, sis. But that won't be the case in our 'Game of Thrones'. In the struggle for survival, the fittest wins out at the expense of their rivals, because they succeed in adapting themselves best to their environment."
Avalon put a cheerful smile on his face before walking towards his other cousins to gossip.

What do you think of Avalon?
There have been changes in the plot due to misunderstanding with the person I have taken Inspiration for Erisviel.
I planned Erisviel to have a confusing background and a girl struggling to find her sexual identity.
But the person whom I took inspiration from told me to scrap Erisviel or divert her personality and background from 'her'.
So there will be major changes to Erisviel.
