Soft fingers brush my forehead and I smile. Mom was always tender and gentle with me, nothing in the universe could compare to her touch. I part my lips and barely whisper. ‘Mom…’

I feel her knee next to me. ‘Sol, baby girl… I was so worried…’ She then stands up.

I open my eyes and I see her looking at the door, then back at me. Something is wrong, she is nervous. “Mom? What’s wrong?” I say out loud.

She holds my hand and squeezes it, but her eyes are on the door. “You better stay away… or I will break you… and that is a promise…” She says and my eyes open wide.

“Mother… What is happening?” I ask as I try to get up, but my head spins and I fall quickly back to the bed.

She sighs and sits next to me. ‘Shhh… take it slowly sweetie… you drained yourself, and that almost killed you. You have to take things slowly…’

I frown. ‘Please don’t treat me like they did…’ I answer to her before I realize I am pushing her as well.
