Bab 177: Who might await

Haowen Pass was once a place that saw much traffic, flanked with sprawling cities that flourished with trade. That was time detailed in records from a time that was difficult for those alive to remember. It only lives on in ancient tales and remnants of ruins that littered about the plains.

Now, it was nothing more than a choke point along Liujue River that was prized a strategic location. Demons and cultivators have fought for control of this location for hundreds of years. 

In the last two decades, Haowen Pass had been under the cultivators' control. The Wander Wolf Sect had done its part in overseeing the location, stationing some of their strongest troops there. Though it was a location that saw frequent skirmishes and sieges, Sikong Ren probably assumed that it was safer than Sanlujue Fort because it was generally very well manned.
