'Abyss' was a term that appeared frequently in skills using 'death magic' or 'black magic'. 'Abyss Breath' was the air there, and 'Death Response' was to summon zombies wandering there. And 'Tartarus', the bottom of the hell where the 'Apocalypse Army' was sealed, was also only a part of the abyss.

As was often understood in that context, the abyss was often thought of like a tomb where the empty shells of all the dead were gathered.

In other words, it was the source of the power of death.

As the one who controlled the power of death, Sungwoo could control the abyss or the entire bizarre space. This was the power he obtained when he achieved 'Second Awakening' by reaching level 50, but his Second Awakening was not known to the public because except for Sungwoo, no one even reached level 50, let alone level 60.
