After acquiring the throne, the first he did is to take out the monkey king's staff to go inside and release the beast that was hatched.

Originally, he will summon the fallen angels before disappearing into the staff but now that Raziel is on his side, he felt there's no need to worry about someone coming near.

Of course, it's not that he needed to worry about getting it stolen as it was bound to him but Wil wants to keep secret of the fact that there's a world inside the pillar... 

When it is in hand, the pillar will be treated as a weapon and so, one can't inspect it. However, if it lies on the ground, it will be treated just like a bound object.

So, the players can inspect it. Just its description will give away everything.
