Bab 5: Goddess Lin
'Hmm?' Lin Shen paused. He could feel someone standing before him.
As he looked up, what came into view was her elegant figure, beautiful curves, and waist-length blonde hair. Her face was beautiful and her eyes alluring. This girl was class president Yu Lin, Goddess Lin.
Every eye was esteemed on her, for she was standing before Lin Shen. They were curious about what she was doing.
Usually, Goddess Lin hung out with her own squad of friends and mostly minded her own business. She never took the initiative to talk to someone and it was the other way around. She did, of course talk to the teachers when needed though. Because of this, it was hard to get into her friend circle.
Now such a person was standing before the quiet kid, the one with few words and kept to himself. They really wanted to know what Goddess Lin was doing.
"Classmate Lin." She spoke first with an alluring voice.
"Y-yes?" Lin Shen subconsciously blurted out. He was stunned by her presence. 'Oh my god! Goddess Lin is actually talking to me!' He felt as though he was on cloud nine.
"Classmate Lin, could you please stop flipping through the textbooks like this? It's not loud but it's disturbing the class when you keep doing it."
Lin Shen felt ashamed. Goddess Lin was actually reprimanding him!
Everyone else felt content. Goddess Lin was actually speaking on their behalf! They angrily looked at Lin Shen. He actually made Goddess Lin waste her breath!
Everyone felt their opinions of Lin Shen dropping. This was just the way they were. If you were popular, everything you did was right. It was the opposite when you were not popular though.
Thankfully the incident wasn't too huge, or Lin Shen would probably become a bullying target. Yu Lin was the most popular student in school. She was from a rich family and her father owned the Yu Conglomerate, a big company that owned many smaller companies. Each company had their own big business that raked in money at a hundred million yuan annually! That was at least $14 million US currency!
Besides, that was just one small company. Other companies made around the same amount or more, and if you added up the earnings of all the companies, it would be in the billions!
Not counting her backing, she had many suitors at school and outside who were of big standing, either rich heirs or successful young bosses themselves.
Lin Shen was just a poor student. If he really did earn the ire of Yu Lin, then his life would be done for.
"Y-yes! I promise I won't disturb the class anymore." Lin Shen hurriedly replied.
"Then I hold you to that promise, Classmate Lin." Yu Lin smiled angelically and went back to her seat. Her friends swarmed her with praises and conversed.
As for Lin Shen, his mood dampened. He could clearly understand the meaning behind his classmates actions. They were definitely disparaging him. For the rest of the day, he did nothing but put his head down and pretended to sleep.
Xie Ying stared at his depressed figure. She felt a little worried in her heart and felt that Yu Lin was too careless. Quiet kids had many times to think to themselves and if there was no one to guide their thoughts, they would usually overthink, which could potentially harm them. She was worried his grades would be affected.
"Ying? Are you paying attention?" Her best friend noticed her blank look. She peered towards her line of sight and saw Lin Shen with his head down. 'It couldn't be, could it?'
"Huh, oh yeah what were you saying?" Xie Ying quickly snapped out of her thoughts and turned her attention back to her friend. She was worried about him but she didn't want people to overthink her actions. High schoolers were gossipers after all. She didn't want rumors running around about her crushing on Lin Shen, especially not when exams were just around the corner.
....
"Sigh." Lin Shen arrived home with a heavy heart.
He was still thinking about the earlier incident in school. Such a matter was bound to spread throughout school. He almost had a meltdown thinking about it. Thankfully exams would come soon, meaning everyone would part ways.
It's just that...those crazy pursuers of Goddess Lin might target him.
"You alright son?" Father Lin, full name Lin Bo. He looked worriedly at his only son. He knew of his son's fragile personality around other people. He had come home with a depressed figure. Something definitely happened.
"Put your stuff away and come have dinner. Tomorrow's the weekend. You can take that time to clear your thoughts." Father Lin gestured to the kitchen.
Lin Shen listened to his father. After arriving at his room, he unloaded his bag to the side of his bed and headed towards the kitchen. He took a seat at the table as food lay in front of him. His father had already sat down across him.
Lin Shen held the bowl of rice in front of him and used the chopsticks to grab the foods on the table. He held the chopstick towards his mouth and ate in silence. Only the sounds of chewing came from him.
As Father Lin glanced at his son, he sighed and shook his head. "Son, I know something's bothering you. Tell me, was it about school?"
Lin Shen's chewing action slowed down to a pause. He swallowed the food already in his mouth before he replied, "Yeah. We had a short class today so everyone was left to study on their own. I was flipping through the pages of the textbook and my classmates were annoyed. They think I was purposely disrupting the class because it didn't seem like I was studying with my constant flipping of the pages."
Lin Shen paused there. Father Lin was hesitant as he asked, "Well, were you studying?" Even he didn't believe that. From the way Lin Shen phrased it, it sounded like he was just flipping through the pages to annoy his classmates.
"Of course I was! With my personality, I would never have the guts to anger the entire class. I even remember all the contents from the textbook." Lin Shen answered as matter of factly. He took up a piece of pork and stuffed it in his mouth, once again chewing.
Father Lin smiled. He could tell his son was starting to feel better from the way he talked and the manner in which he ate.
"Alright, I believe you, I believe you. However, as my son, I know you very well. Just your entire class being angry at you shouldn't have been a cause for you coming home like a beaten dog. In fact, your mood should've cleared on your way back. Tell me the real reason."
Lin Shen couldn't help feeling like he was a naked piece of meat. His father could accurately tell that he left out the real reason.
"Alright, you got me. It was a girl. She said something to me." Lin Shen stated while eating his meal. There was no point in dragging it out with his father.
Father Lin hurriedly looked at his son, the confusion in him clear. If a girl really talked to him, shouldn't he be happy? What did the girl say to have made Lin Shen so sad...Oh No! Did he get rejected after asking her out?
Father Lin's imagination ran wild, while the innocent Lin Shen ate his meal under the gaze of his father.

EternallyDust Here’s a rough outline: During his high school years, I will be building up his potential love interest that will bloom in his college years. His use of the app will start to increase there as he fights for his destiny and love.
The first few chapters will be a little slow, taking time to explain the MC’s personality. He is weak-willed and doesn’t have that much confidence.
This is his ordinary life before he starts using the Rebirth App in full throttle.
