Renir stood atop the cliff. He couldn't see at all since clouds cover the night sky.
The only sources of light were the bolts of lightning accompanied by the furious roars of thunder on the thick and heavy clouds.
When the clouds flashed and roared, Renir saw while his black hair wildly fluttered on the stormy wind the forest was no more.
As if it was an ocean with mountains peaking from afar, but were barely seen because of the tremendous pouring of rain.
Renir felt like he was another world again, but this time, he will not pathetically cry but challenge this world!
The ground, the cliff he stood trembled slightly as the sound of water barged in with big waves inside the cave.
Renir knew what that sign tells.
The clouds flashed and gave an ear-splitting roar that illuminated the devastation of Gantlet and Renir saw the head of the Giganslik, peeking from the flood as if staring back at him.
Renir stayed on his ground, cautious of what will happen next. He had yet to measure his new and current power.
If he cannot go against the Giganslik, he was afraid he needed to run again and find ways to improve or obtain the so-called "experience"
But if he had any chance, he will take it and beat this giant.
There will be problems if their fight will continue until the next night where the Water Sentinel will gain its power.
Renir doubt he can go against the two, and to give his head more pain, there are still these water creatures.
He solidified his position as the Giganslik plunged deep under the flood, but moments later, a shadow beneath rapidly grew and the giant black slime abruptly emerged and soared through the air like a true sea creature.
Renir looked above and stepped aside with his familiar footstep.
Giganslik jumped so high he felt the mountain will crumble if it lands on the cliff!
However, he had faith in this immutable mountain.
The Giganslik finally stopped mid-air, just a little more it could touch the sky, and then it began its massive fall.
Renir's legs shuddered slightly when he saw above, the Giganslik was small as a bead of rice before it fell down rapidly regaining its size!
Sweat formed on his forehead while being washed away by the furious rain. He fortified his position to prepare for the Giganslik's meteor-like attack.
Swooosh~* Thud!!* the cliff and the mountain trembled by that great fall but still, indestructible.
Renir, even with his strong position, hovered over mid-air because of the impact, and at that moment, he knew he was about to die.
As he floats on the air, he saw the giant, thrice his own size, flattened from the impact. And before Renir could touch the ground with the sole of his feet, he was hit by the Giganslik's immense bounce.
"...this...!", solidly, Renir was directly hit towards the flood!
In the flood was the most dangerous area where he can fight the Giganslik but he was pushed there with bleeding all over his body.
Traces of blood left the air as they soared through while he was getting crushed...
The disadvantage greatly tipped to Renir's side!
Renir's bone had a few cracks and some of his skin was torn apart, heck, his only clothing was about to be ripped completely.
However, his blood was pumped!
Even when drenched underwater by the cold rising flood, his heat rose up as the unknown fire in him blazed!
His reason for this was because even though he was hit solidly and even terrifyingly by the Giganslik, he was not killed, but received only a few injuries!
But his fear was in front of him when, as he expected, the Giganslik moved in the water like a jet.
It was like the water slime but because of this, the Giganslik cannot explode its launch using the air or can produce its fire armor.
"Blublububulub!", Renir meant, 'Did it get angry because I shouted at it earlier?', he frowned and became serious, 'I need to find any source of energy to heal my wounds.'
Renir didn't feel the slightest discomfort underwater and can move freely in all directions. And on top of it, if he moved his body to propel himself, his speed and acceleration were greatly multiplied.
It was like he was walking if he swam effortlessly but running if he propelled himself, but the only difference was he can move in a three-dimensional plane!
Renoir flapped his feet and immediately evaded the swooshing jet, Giganslik. If that hit him two more times without being able to recover, he was sure to die.
And another thing was, Renir still cannot breathe underwater and he needed to swim back to the surface for air from time to time.
He was also restricted by the lack of sight. Lightning doesn't continuously strike the sky and it wasn't enough to fill the underwater with light.
There are too many disadvantages there, was what Renir thought. He should get to the ground again and not make the same mistake.
A bolt of lightning flashed soundlessly since thunder's roar couldn't reach Renir's ears which were underwater. That was when he saw just from a distance the incoming Giganslik approaching with faster speed!
Renir widened his eyes as he realized the Giganslik can increase its speed as long as it is not hit with anything.
'How fast can that swim?!', Renir found another huge problem!
And unlike on the ground which the Giganslik cannot change its trajectory once it is mid-air, but on the water, even by just a little, it can maneuver!
Renir immediately swam on the perpendicular direction as fast as he could so that no matter how he Giganslik maneuvers itself, it cannot reach him.
Because of the Giganslik's intense speed, when it passed by Renir, it created a whirlpool that almost pulled him!
'Whoa!', Renir frowned as he swam away from it.
But while he was problematizing about the Giganslik, he felt an itch on his forearm - it was an itch he cannot ignore.
When he was about to subconsciously scratch it, he felt something.... slimy?
"Bluublulbubu!", Renir was creeped out to see a creature attached to his skin. Its body has also a translucent color of blue and has the shape of a fish!
However, when observed, Renir saw within its translucent body, his blood was being sipped into it!
"BLUBUB!", Renir cursed, and no matter how he pulled it, it was too slimy for him to get a good grip.
However, Renir realized he just had a body modification...
His metallic claws!
But when Renie looked at it, he just saw his five normal nails.
'What?!', he panicked, but not only because his claws were gone but the Giganslik was approaching again, even faster!
Because it was gaining speed, it was also having a bigger u-turn to compensate for it so Renir doesn't have to worry for the Giganslik always there to kill him.
He flapped his feet up as he felt he needed air. Like a dolphin, he jumped out of the water and got enough air when he submerged back to the flood again with a big splash.
But unlike last time where the water slime was detached when exposed to air, this vampire-like fish didn't!
'This little!', Renir looked at his nails and thought of it having claws, and amazingly, it did!
The metallic claws formed instantly with a thought!
'So that's how it works!', Renir smiled as he stabbed his claws to the vampire-like fish and easily pulled it for his meal.
As he gulped the tender body and tasted the foul taste of his blood, Renir felt the sensation like he felt when he was eating chylefruit back then.
His wounds were slowly healing and his energy was slightly replenishing.
Bolts of lightning lit up the sky and even under the flood, which Renir saw creatures approaching him, not just the giant Giganslik but the vampire-like fishes and its kind.
Instead of fearing, Renir smiled as he saw hope it defeating the Giganslik. Along with the sight of foes all around him, he also saw his weapon against the giant- the mountain!
If he could make the Giganslik reached its maximum speed and make it hit the immutable and indestructible mountain, will it still sustain no damage?
The answer is a big NO!
Once it loses its speed, Renir will take the opportunity to ravage this damn giant. Just from the thought of it, his body felt a tingling sensation which made him smile.
The storm continued as if it was never-ending and the flood was rising that even the mountains were about to get devoured.
Above the dark clouds, the moon that was brighter than usual, with "stars" more than before, encircling and playing around it.
The flood was prepared to form a monster once the second eclipse of Gantlet's moon occurred.
Underneath the flood, Renir instantly clawed the water creature into his mouth like a beast and swallowed to heal and refill his own.
It was the first time that a creature in Gantlet became a supplement to Renir.
From a distance, the Giganslik with speed faster than before was about to approach.
However, Renir didn't fear since his mind was firmly set:
It was PAYBACK TIME!
