Bab 9: Let us get married!
When Jennifer realized that she could not get any answers from him, so she tried to get down from the bed. As she was lying on the bed for the past two days, the moment her feet touched the floor, she could not balance herself properly and slid to one side.
Jayden reacted fast and held her in his arms. He then lifted her up in the air and brought her to the sofa, where he knelt down and started massaging her feet and legs.
"So, do you often get bad dreams and try to self harm yourself all the time?"
When Jayden asked this question, Jennifer acted like he did not ask her that but someone else. She completely ignored him and waited impatiently when he would get up and stop his massaging.
Even though the massage felt good, she did not want to do anything with this person who kidnapped her friend. Once she felt slightly better, she planned to escape from this place and come back with more help to rescue her friend.
"You do not have to fear, I have done a major in psychology when I did my bachelors. And I even did a diploma in nursing, so I am basically a half doctor. Look at the way I treated you! I have also done chemical engineering, so I even tested the powder which you tried to use on me and found out that it contains many harmful particles. I re-engineered it and made a safer version" Jayden tried to feed Jennifer all about himself in just one go!
But looking at Jennifer's face, he just stopped his extravagant self-praise midway. He did not want to frighten her or make her feel uncomfortable. Jennifer ignored him completely and even got angry when he said, he modified her sleep-inducing powder without even asking her once. She took a year to create that, which will make her enemies sleep in a second for days.
But he just coolly said he re-engineered it so fast? She was not even sure how many days had passed. She was getting more and more uncomfortable as she did not know what happened to Elina in those days.
How could she be so stupid and did not even feel suspicious as no one was actually here guarding this place when she came, except him! She has become an utter idiot! And even made a fool of herself, when she should have taken her father's advice seriously.
"So, what do you want from me to let Elina go? I can promise you anything you want if you can prove to me that Elina is safe and sound! Let me tell you even if you want to kill me, I do not mind", left with no choice, Jennifer tried to make a deal with Jayden.
Jayden got hurt by just listening to her promise! Will she make such a deal to anyone who had Elina in their hands? Did she think he was such a nasty person to kidnap a girl to achieve his goals?
All he tried to do was save her from his brother but she just thought him to be so cheap and even trying to negotiate with her life. His heart could not take this blow and he felt mad.
He was afraid he would actually hurt her if he stayed there for even a second more. So, he just got up from where he was kneeling and walked fast towards the door.
Jennifer wondered why he got upset right now? Wasn't that what he wanted? First, he kidnapped her friend Elina and then he tried to blackmail her by using that while he came to her college.
But right now Jennifer has to think fast and react as if he leaves this place then she does not know if she can even save Elina. So she tried to get up and catch him before he left.
But she hardly took four steps and she just lost her balance and fell down with a 'thud'. Jayden hurried towards her and lifted her up. His worry for her replaced the anger which he had minutes ago.
He said, "I am sorry. I overreacted just a second before! Are you sure you will do anything, I ask of you just for an exchange for Elina?"
"Yes" without even thinking Jennifer replied.
"Very well then, let us get married. Once we register and get our marriage certificate, I will hand over Elina to you." Jayden said coolly.
Jennifer never expected him to say such a thing so easily. She knows that it is because of her father's oath five years before made him ask for such a thing. Still, he did not expect for him to put it out openly.
For a few minutes, she just stood there like a statue. She thought it was just a marriage in name, maybe he won't force her to do anything inappropriate. Anyways, once the marriage is done, he would take over her father's position and would not even be interested in her anymore.
After thinking a lot, she said, "Ok".
But still, she wanted to make sure that it was just a marriage on the name just to convince her father rather than a real marriage. She is still young and she would definitely want to build her own career.
Marriage was definitely not in her plan at least for now. All she wanted was to live her own life the way she wanted it. But now as she agreed to marry him, she wanted to set some rules to it.
Before Jayden could actually jump in joy, Jennifer said, "I want to make sure about a few things before we go for the marriage registration. It will be just a marriage on paper to convince my father that you have succeeded and met all his demands as you will be the inheritor as soon as my father is convinced."
Jayden's face became like a burst balloon. The happiness he felt just before turned into sadness the next second. He did not want to make their marriage just on paper alone. He wants to live with her for the rest of their lives until they hold their hands and roam around with grey hair and also with many grandchildren surrounding them asking for their love story.
"Do you even know exactly what your father had demanded on that notice? He had said that within two years we are supposed to give him a grandchild. Then he would make me the heir of the underworld, so we need to definitely have a kid of our own" Jayden said.
Without even thinking much Jennifer shouted, "No way am I going to do that. Do you even know what my age is now? I am still so young to become a mother, no way would I do such a thing with you!"
Even though Jennifer thought she made Jayden angry by shouting at him, she knows that the actual culprit is her own father. If only he did not issue such a statement, then everything would be alright now! She just wanted to use the powder she had still left at home on her father and make him sleep for a very long time.
Suddenly she thought of a plan and said, "Why don't you go make a baby with another woman and I will tell the father that the child belongs to us. Then he would not make any trouble in you taking over the whole underworld"
Jayden just wanted to split open her head and see what it's actually filled with? She could even sacrifice her own life in exchange for her friend but will send her husband to some other woman who may potentially become her rival and a mistress!
