Bab 25: Engagement Party, Part 2
The men both had cheeky grins on their faces, as they headed towards the other car. The Madam who was following behind them wanted to flick their foreheads for misbehaving despite their old age.
Meanwhile the other car seemed to have a weird amount of tension. Even the secretary who usually picks Yiyi up felt a strange amount of pressure from the back seats. Liang had crammed himself into the middle of the three seats, and although there should have been plenty of room, Yiyi was somehow squished against her car door. On the other side, Xian had a comfortable amount of space, but Liang had been on high defense, so he had unintentionally moved closer to Yiyi. Despite trying to protect her he had been slightly crushing her shoulder. Yiyi was just ignoring the pain, but somehow the original's body had a smaller stature, and seemed to be more easily hurt. After a while of being crushed Liang tried to move even close, and Yiyi strengthened her position. Xian had seen her other hand clench. "Elder Brother, stop crowding my fiance." Liang who was speechless at the boy's polite wording had relaxed a bit. His thoughts could be read off his face, surprisingly this brother was easier for Xian to read than Yiyi was. His face clearly seemed to say 'This guys just a kid.. why am I getting so worked up?' The two boys had gotten along significantly better since Xian had said that, however Yiyi felt dizzy after remembering that she intended to have the families keep the engagement quiet for a bit first. She had already given up on it, since she wasn't going to be able to change the evening plans, but the way Xian called her made her want to reconsider.. What if she got into some kinda trouble from unintentionally making the villain engaged. Several thought flooded Yiyi's head at once as-
[Boring.. Host~~ They're getting along... can't you make them fight or something??] Yiyi rolled her eyes, but thanks to the system calling out to her she had been able to refocus herself. She tried to mentally open the status tab on her own, and to her surprise it popped up as normal. [Oh! Host you're finally actually interacting with the menu.. on your own.. T-T Dear host~ I'm so proud~~] The end of the system's talking had somehow turned disgusting. While suppressing a dry heave, Yiyi focused on looking in the objectives tab. With just a glance, it opened to show a completed task, and an uncompleted one, [Objectives: !] Listed was 'Meet Your Fiance' and another which she hadn't been told about, '!Announce the Engagement!'... Looks like she really couldn't get out of it.
Just as she was starting to get depressed over the broken system, the car abruptly came to a stop. The windows were tinted, and a bit hard to see out of, so instead Yiyi leaned forwards to ask the driver, "Are we here already?". Xian subtly showed a bit of interest when he heard her voice. It was the first time she had spoken since he had arrived. The driver, who realized that the windows were hard to see out of, slightly nodded to show that her guess was indeed correct. As Yiyi started to get out, Liang stopped her "Wait, there are probably people outside the entrance, we are probably going to the underground parking lot- Right?" The last part was directed towards the attendant who was in the front seat. However the elder brother had realized just how naive his little sister was about her own popularity amongst others. It wasn't that she had an outstandingly cute manner to others, but she had an unapproachable aura, however those who did approach her almost couldn't help finding certain things she did to be adorable.
The car had stayed stopped for a while, before the driver finally told them they would be in the car park in just a couple minutes... Yiyi had spent the time trying to mentally prepare herself for the amount of greetings she would have to do. She hadn't considered it before, but when her brother had reminded her that this was a Sheng Company event, she had suddenly become much more nervous than before. While starting to space out again, the car stopped, and this time Xian had got out and quickly went to open Yiyi's door. They were going to have to spend the entire evening together, so the girl was a little confused as to why he had started the interaction between them so early. She still thanked him since he did open the door and help her out of the car. She really was confused about his personality, it was just too different from the cowardly villain in the story.
The other car had already arrived, and the adults had been waiting for them to get out. Once the three teenagers had looked towards them they all thought the look in their eyes was a bit weird. On the other hand the doting parents saw Xian's chivalrous display and thought it was quite cute... This family really was too interested in making sure their daughter was pampered. The madam quickly took Liang and went off to make sure all the preparations were ready, and the fathers both headed to check on the guest list to make sure that those that RSVP'd had their tables arranged, and were set up in an efficient manner for networking. With Xian and Yiyi left to their own devices, they both became quite bored and found the table they were supposed to sit at. Yiyi was starting to feel tired from sitting at the table in such a boring manner.. They weren't even talking... Yiyi rested her head on the table in a way that didn't crush her curled hair. The Sheng staff had gone through so much work to groom her from early in the morning to now, and she wanted nothing more than to rest her eyes.
...
Things started to get blurry, as Yiyi heard a faint mumble [How do you fall asleep anywhere? ... maybe she's narcoleptic..? Tsk tsk]
