Akira completed his practice swings and was concentrating on the pitcher. The first pitch was to the inside, which he fouled. After fouling a couple more pitches, Akira landed a solid hit between the first and second base for an easy single. 

With Akira safe at first, Shiro walked up to the plate. But Shiro couldn't stay for long and got struck out after fouling 3 pitches continuously, he missed the pitch to the outside. Suzaku was the next batter who didn't do any better. He swung his bat on the first pitch and the ball flew into the left field.
